First of all, I see Prime Megs as a schemer that's perfectly happy to murder without remorse. He's a capable warrior, not a decrepit old man, nor do I feel Welker's raspy voice makes him sound like an old fart. Second of all, the character differences are obvious. We're not discussing Shakespeare here, it's a Michael Bay film. That still doesn't change the fact that I found Hugo's voice boring along with the character he was providing a voice for. It's cool that you liked Hugo's performance, but you don't have to basically attack people's intelligence to support your own personal preference.
I think that interview with Weaving is a bunch of BS. Look at this interview: Hugo Weaving on “Transformers 4″: “Leave that one up to if and when it happens” – IFC “I only meet Michael when we’re doing the voice work, so look, I just leave that one up to if and when it happens,” he said. And now he says he never met Bay?
Well, he does love Transformers. But he sees them as giant war machines. He doesn't love it like a fan. He gives zero fucks about the characters and story. Only the CGI and how cool the fighting robots look in it.
How am I attacking people's intelligence? I'm just making a comment as to why people don't think hard about these type of things.
If he is casted as Megatron (if he's in the 4th one), we better not fucking get this voice. It was TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Which isn't rare in the world of voice-over. Abigail Breslin was paid $650,000 for 4 hours of recording time as one of the main characters for Zambezia. Abigail Breslin 'made $65,000 for four hours' work on Zambezia' - Movies News - Digital Spy Four hours. For her entire role in the movie (which would probably be as substantial as say, Optimus' roles in the movies roughly). A "2 hour session" could easily be the same for - just for example - Ned Beatty as Lot-So in Toy Story 3. Or Liam Neeson as Aslan in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Would anyone really get angry and start dissing the directors for that? Would anyone really be up in arms if it turned out that Ian McKellan "phoned in" his 34 lines as Iorek in The Golden Compass in the span of a day? What if Michael Sheen said he never really liked Alice in Wonderland? Would that paint a negative light on his performance as the White Rabbit? Length of time recording =/= quality of performance. You could spend weeks recording lines and still give a sh**ty performance, just like you could spend 2 hours recording and give a solid performance. It's not the methods or techniques that matter in voice-acting, it's the final product. The proof is in the pudding. And for some, the proof is that it was a poor performance, and for others, it was a strong performance. I get what you're saying. There's plenty of proof to point to the fact that he "doesn't care as much" as us, but I'd argue that there's also plenty of proof to point to the opposite as well. In some ways, yeah, he only treats them as sideshow spectacles. Yet in other ways it seems he is trying his best to give these characters life and flesh out the live-action universe. We all see the franchise differently. You see it one way, I see it another, Bay sees it his way. Of course, without going inside of Bay's mind itself, there's no way either of us can prove how he actually views them. Split wasn't saying Frank doesn't know anything about voice acting. He was saying that, in his opinion, Weaving gave a better performance than Welker as Megatron. That's what he's saying. Nothing to do with what Welker knows about the craft, merely Split's opinion on the quality of the two respective performances. EDIT: Also, oh my goodness, everyone! Paul Bettany hasn't seen the Iron Man movies and doesn't appear interested in the franchise! D: http://screenrant.com/iron-man-3-promo-art-extremis-armor-paul-bettany-jarvis/ ...I'm waiting for the wailing and gnashing of teeth, along with the insulting of both Bettany and Favreau, since it's both of their faults and how they're horrible people.

I thought Hugo's Meg's voice was good. Problem is that he had shit to say with the shitty scripts, haha. I wish he had better and more stuff to say. He seems professional, so even if he didn't really care, he still did a good job. I bet we have all had jobs we didn't like but still did the work to the best of our ability. As for Welker. I love his prime Meg's voice . I think that could had worked in the movies. Also, I felt no dialogue really from movie Meg's has more emotion than Prime Megs.
You mean these people called 'Actors' are just doing a 'job' to make 'money?!' Who would've ever thought that! I mean.....wait, I may have heard something like that before. *GASP!* Also, Weaving is the best Megatron we've ever had, period. And no, I'm not some raving movie fanboy. Born in '84. Looked at the original Optimus as a father figure since my own father was absent. Absolutely distraught at his death in the movie. And, you know what, I'll go further. Welker is the WORST Megatron we've ever had. I love the mans work. I love his Soundwave. His Eeyore is awesome. His Megatron should never be heard from again. I literally look forward to Transformers media less when I find out he's voicing Megs.
Holy shit a person was doing his job to get money without giving a fuck about it?! STOP THE PRESSES! Seriously I'm not a movie fan, in fact I hate the movies but this is just ridiculous! You don't need to be a huge fan, or to know everything about the character that is or read every comic ever produced to give a good performance. You think Scottie Ray watched the whole 87 Turtles cartoon and read all of the Archie and Mirage comics in order to voice the The Shredder? Probably not. Was he still a fucking awesome Shredder? Hell yeah!
To be fair, the live action movies were so devoid of any real character that I'm not surprised Weaving phoned it in. The first film was okay, the other 2 completely bloody awful. Good for Weaving that he isn't trying to bullshit us into thinking the films had any artistic merit I say.
No! Someone on the internet has spoken! There can be no counter position! It's kind of the theme of the movie franchise. If it makes money the way it is, why bother trying to improve it? Professional pride? Bwahahahaha.
Weaving was a missed opertunity: you have this great actor and do close to nothing with him after 3 movies. I am sure if given a Megatron like Prime (an actual threat to the hero) he would have done a great job. I don't even think Weaving believes that. It's not that Weaving did not have the potential to be (one of) the best Megatron just that he is NEVER given the opertunity to be anything but, a token villain.
I liked Animated megatron's voice the best. Oh well but he was also one of the best Megatrons overall.
Isn't Peter Eyore rather than Frank ? Thus : Voiced by Ralph Wright (1966-1983) Ron Feinberg (1981) Ron Gans (1983-1986) Peter Cullen (1988-2010) Bud Luckey (2011-Present) Oh and Hugo's Performance is not bad he's just not given much to work with script wise.
Whoops. Right you are. Still, my opinion stands. I love the mans work in general, but his Megatron is terrible.
