TFW Prime Ultra Magnus Gallery

Today it gives us pride to share a new Transformers gallery with you! Next up is the first of two new releases in Voyager Class Wave 4, Ultra Magnus!

Ultra Magnus may be familiar to anyone who picked up the Cyberverse toy, as the Voyager Class toy is very much an upscaled version of the Cyberverse Commander, with a few extra steps and panels for the arm and leg transformations. This regrettably brings over some of the bad points of that design along with the good ones, such as the rear view of the truck mode having the robot mode legs on full view. But there are some good points too, including some excellent articulation and the best MechTech weapon on a Transformers Prime toy yet - one that not only locks in its deployed mode, but that also features two distinct modes.

All in all, Ultra Magnus is a great toy. He's not without flaws, but he stands up well all things considered. Well worth the purchase in my opinion, provided you are able to pick him up at retail or close to retail prices.

Awesome gallery. Though the box art is really puzzling to me...it looks like a very crude CGI rendering of the toy itself, whereas Thundertron's looked far more like actual show art. Even weirder, Cyberverse Magnus had a much more realistic looking mug shot on his packaging-- it looked like it could have been one of Lopez's concept paintings or something. Not at all like the ugly picture used on this box and the trading card.

I would have rather there been a comparison with PRID prime as well, as they would in theory scale better....

Judging from the picture, my only concerns are the lack of ankle joints and how far the shoulders stick out, but that's due to transformation i'm sure....

I MUST have this now.

It seems to be some really thin plastic.
Well at least it looks like it with the white background.I cant help but think about how long these will last,Considering g1 toys are still in good shape after all these years.

That is very much a robot who is sticking his butt out the back of his truck... Someone was in a weird place when they designed this.

Pretty decent, he's got waist articulation which is a rarity these days, ball joint hips and shoulders, thigh and upper arm swivels, plus ratchets in his elbows and knees. Ball jointed head as well, good range of movement there. There's very little to keep him from striking a lot of poses except, as nOObiE do0 picked up on, the plastic feels a bit lighter, which is a double edged blade but generally it means wider stances are harder to balance because there is less weight in the legs to keep them grounded. It's a real problem with his big ol' gun.
