Well, to be fair, what the fuck would be the point of him selling it at retail? Yes a 100% markup is a bit nuts, but if you expect a guy who is in the business of selling products to sell a product to you for what he paid for it, then he isn't the crackpot, that would be you. Toys R Us can sell it for $100 because they are probably paying Hasbro somewhere between $40-60' $70 TOPS for it. That's not the case with anyone else who wants to sell one. They all paid $100 and will sell it for profit, even if that profit is modest. $120-140 is reasonable for that situation if you were making a serious offer.

My mistake for misreading/misinterpreting your assessment of the whole thing. I agree, $200 is a crazy "cocky" markup. It is lame that he wouldn't drop his offer a bit to you, but the sad part is there is probably someone there who will and likely did pay his asking price, or close to it. We'd all like to think not, but secondary market prices get out of hand when something like this first comes out.

At SDCC, there were giving away Batman Court of Owls masks at the DC booth. GIVING THEM AWAY. Someone threw one up on eBay the first day and it sold for $100. $100 for a cheap piece o f plastic that was free not 6 hours before it sold. If ever there was a time to try and get $200 for a $100 MP Prime, it would be now. I understand why you felt insulted by his sales pitch though, because he's assuming you are just a ho-hum toy collector and not a TF enthusiast. Then again, by the same token, if he had any brains he'd know only an enthusiast would pay $200 for a single toy.

 

its supply demand as has gone on in other threads... i want a grimlock and know im going to pay double what he sold for in stores... why?? because i am willing to pay that... if you want him now and cant wait 2 weeks then countering and paying a 50% markup should be nothing much... im a believer in you have to pay to play and if you get in late your going to pay more..

though 200 is high in my opinion i checked ebay and pre sells are going for about 190 to 220 shipped right now.. so someone was willing to pay that... maybe not any of us if you cant afford it, but someone out there thought 100 dollars was worth the hour or 2 he would have spent searching for him...

My Optimus Prime arrived today. I ordered off ebay. Toyrus never had Thundercracker. My Optimus Prime has the Toyrus sicker. The Hasbro version came out in July in China. I've still yet to see one or even the label for one @ Toyrus.

No, There's none in GA. I ordered mine in 09*26*12. Got mine today had to pay. But once you figure the headache going store to store and calling every day. Time is money as well.

 

Well, not at the stores, but it's in the distribution centers.

I called the Mentor, Ohio store and had them run the SKN. There are 208 left of the 607 that were in the warehouse. It is shipping to stores handled by this center and it's not pending at Mentor, but it is pending at Mayfield Heights. It's literally just a matter of time before it hits their shelves.

I also called the Erie PA store. They removed it from their system because of too many calls. Basically, they'll get it when they get it.

Both stores said it's a very high demand item and it surprised them due to the price. So...yeah, he's gonna be a bitch to find.

 

well sheeit and here I was gonna see if anyone here in C-bus wanted to Play middleman with this Optimus Prime.
