I think he he hid and watched alpha trion die or something and now hes trying to make up for it or alpha gave him certain info and MADE him hide and he feels ashamed cause of alphas fate maybe....thought he way he looked at airachnid with a longer than shoulda been pause....defitnely makes me think theres something else goin on.

Maybe Arachnid was the one to off Ultra Trion and Smokescreen knows it? Or she has information about what happened or was the one to capture him and he was either to retrieve the information or get revenge? He is enough of a greenhorn to try something like that without realizing how dangerous she really is.

Or it was just an excuse for the creators to begin to reintroduce her into the storyline.

Although I don't think Airanchid killed AT.

Instead Airachnid was there when the Decepticons stormed Iacon.

Or maybe Smokes overheard a conversation on the ship, involving Airachnid.
(After all she struck out on her own because she doesn't like to share and left the old boys club)

But we'll know soon enough.

^As far as I could tell when watching the episode, he's made of (heavily modified) copies of Knockout's body, Bumblebee's shoulders, Optimus's head and forearms with doors wings tacked on.
