Nice! Unicron looks pretty wicked, actually, even if the alt mode is silly as hell. The armor modes are only OK but probably not my cup of tea (why would Unicron power up Optimus Prime as an armor upgrade anyway? XD and Megatron he rejected from the get-go too). His arms do make me think it's made up of Super Saiyan scalps or something, haha, with how weirdly spiky and hair-like they look.

The MPs are all bought, no question. Ironhide too.

The redeco'd PCC figures look nice but for Takara's asking prices, those things should be dipped in pure gold or something. I'm a big fan of PCC but even I think they're not worth that kind of money.

I think we can blame Hasbro for that, considering the explicit reason that FE figures were cancelled was the lack of interest in non-movie figures, and yet the last wave of movie Deluxes got cancelled as well.

Your sense of timing is off.

The FE figures got pushed back due to lack of retailer interest in non-Movie toylines. They were originally supposed to come out in Spring 2011, but as that ran into the Movie launch, they got pushed back until Fall. They had no reason to believe that the Movie line wouldn't be as successful as previous, so the whole issue kinda snowballed from there.

When FE's new, late 2011 release date rolled around, retailers were just trying to clear out DotM stock, and weren't particularly interested in a new line. When they finally got around to putting them out, it was so close to Prime's launch proper that FE just got scrapped entirely.


Just a bad set of timing issues all around, and nothing that Hasbro could foresee. Remember, these things are planned out about a year in advance. They don't happen overnight. They can't upend a whole year's manufacturing schedule or whatever to account for severe market shifts. They can only attempt to analyze what went wrong, and try not to do it again the next year.

i think their case revisions of late also display that they understand the bumblebee phenomenon. wave 4 revision with 2 vehicons is great for the collector market, but maybe it's also good for the kid out there that wanted a vehicon or knockout instead of a bumblebee or cliffjumper (i was that kid!), but their parents/relatives got them a bumblebee cause there was a wall of bumblebees at TRU so that must be the one you wanted right?

I think as we move forward we will see more sensible case assortments without the need for revision waves.
