Plus, episode descriptions don't give away everything that will happen in the episode.
You'd be surprised. I literally made a "da fuk?" face reading a disney channel description that literally described who some disagreement got resolved. The best way to decribe it is with these examples.

A normal description:

The Autobots track a signal and discover something more unsettling than the Decepticon threat.

The Disney-esque dscription:

The Autobots find an Insecticon hive and Megatron facing Airachnid. The episode ends with Optimus facing down Megatron but Megatron escapes and the Insecticons join his ranks.

I don't think Bulkhead can die now. It's like the boy who cried wolf. We think someone is going to die so first we see Bulkhead with a bom strapped to him. Doesn't die. Bulkhead in a weakend state gets shot in the back. Doesn't die. There can be no more near misses with him or else he'll become the butt of some new meme or joke.

The mere fact that Bulkhead was weakened by this Tox-en should have made his survival odds low. But NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Star Wars the Clone Wars is probably the darkest, most mature cartoon on TV (excluding anime).

I'm beginning to think that we would be better off without episode descriptions. Just give us the airdate, title, and a promo pic and let us stew in our lack of foreknowledge until the episode actually airs.

Are people actually surprised- and upset- that Bulkhead doesn't die?

Beast Wars: Yeah, pretty high number of deaths. However, the original Maximals and the original Predacons who weren't boring as hell had very thick plot armor, with the exception of Dinobot who died more than halfway in.

Beast Machines: Please. "Spark extraction" doesn't count because it's trivial to reverse. It's a dark show but if you were on it, you were alive forever, with the SOLE exception of Rhinox. The faction leaders died in the final five minutes of the story. That's like saying the Harry Potter franchise killed off characters and citing Voldemort as an example. I'd be amazed if Prime ends and characters aren't dead on the floor.

Armada: Didn't see it, but last I heard NOBODY can stay dead in Armada/Energon/Cybertron. Just get their memory erased. Since they are all in the same continuity, it's not as if Megatron/Galvatron/Megatron/Galvatron/Megatron/Galvatron ever stayed dead for long.

Animated: This is the biggest joke entry. Yes, sometimes they kill characters in the LAST EPISODE of TV shows, see Beast Machines. They managed to kill off minor character Blurr, who stayed dead only because nobody could find time to cram in his resurrection, which was planned from the start! Slipstream was also about to revive Starscream for Season 4, this was cut at the last second. Then Prowl was going to play Obi-Wan Kenobi for Season 4. I hope my life gets that convenient once I'm dead.

Of course all of this misses the point by vast leaps and bounds. Repeat after me: There is no direct relationship between the quality of the writing and the number of characters who are killed. Whether this episode is any good is completely independent of whether Bulkhead lives, and just because you, like me, are spoiler whores who clicked on this thread, doesn't mean we can call this episode for the fail or fun piles yet because Bulkhead--gasp--isn't dead at the beginning of the episode.

TL;DR? I'll keep watching this show till it ceases to entertain me. Also, this thread is terribad.

Then they bring him back!

EDIT - Or in Armada, when Smokescreen got a hole shot through him with the Requiem Blaster and everyone was standing around saluting his corpse...and then, next episode, turns out he survived and just needed a new body. Or, Armada again, when Starscream was blown to pieces with the Requiem Blaster...and then it was negated in the same episode when the kids went back in time, somehow.

Anyway, I'm interested to see the episode and hope that there will be some lasting repercussions and changes to Bulkhead's character beyond him just having a grudge against Hardshell now.
But we knew that Smokescreen could potentially survive. I recently rewatched Armada so this is fresh in my mind. He got blasted, everyone was sad but if not at the end of that episode then it was the beginning of the next one Red Alert began to operate on him. He didn't do an Optimus where the tears of mini-con brought him back.

Bulkhead doesn't die? BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW.

Personally, I'm happy Bulkhead doesn't die. You don't HAVE to kill off a character to generate angst. I've gotten more than enough of THAT 'convenient little plot device' in comic books.

Seriously, I love how so many people are throwing a hissy because of this. And the whole thing about Breakdown? We still don't know if he's going to 'stay dead'.

We aren't saying that character deaths make the show good. But when you make an episode centered about one character, with flashbacks, talk of honor and all that s**t(basically , a goodbye episode) usually that character dies soon after that.At least in well-written shows, that is.

I still love this show, but I'm annoyed from a storytelling point of view. We need some development to push this show further. The biggest causalty besides Cliffjumper was Bumblebee who was crippled for two episodes which did some nice development for Ratchet.

But this whole "well don't worry Bob because everything will be a-ok" thing really sucks. Kids know about death - now more than ever thanks changing socialisation and the media. We have shows like Spongebob throwing around the word like it means nothing every other episode. We have Star Wars that does a kick-ass job handling the burdens of war.

Yet we can't lose a single Autobot? It's not like we would be losing Bumblebee.

Like I said, I still love this show; a great show is a great show but building up Bulkhead's death so much just to let him walk away is just bad storytelling. I admit thought I didn't think of him being in a stasis. All I want are some reprocusions.
