I feel sad about this anyone with more than a few Transformers toys can think of ways that the transformation could have been better (HFTD Terradive did much better and he's a Deluxe). They have commited a Transformers sin even toys that have one terrible mode usually look god in the other - they have fragged up the Jet and the robot by the way they have engineered this toy - it's wings are completely the wrong way around in robot mode for crying out loud. and it's got a massive useless lump of kibble and a huge gap less than an inch away from said kibble - that is just taking the mikey - and on top of the sloppy lack of integration of the jet underside - it's like they let the Mr. Starscream bloke who designs most of the Starscream toys (usually quite badly) design this one while rampantly drunk.

This toys is a good example of what is wrong with Transformers lately - I think a simplified Transformation is good in theory but Arms Micron/RID Optimus proves you can retain a balance between both modes finished look without being as much of a pain in the tailpipe to transform as some Movie toys are.

But then it's the little things that often disappoint - I still feel that a compaction spring or swivel on Ratchets wheel arm would have really done him a favour and 90% swivel on the rear wheel and heel loop part so his wheel ends up inside his leg.

I don't expect miracles - like Cliff getting all his wheels inside his legs in robot mode but again RID Cliff didn't really make much attempt to hide those wheels in robot mode.

I don't think RID/Arms Microns are bad toys just hope they are not drawing the wrong conclusions in a desire for simplification on the side of simplification to such a degree that they fail to make a toy that satisfies in both modes. while providing a Transformation that does not make you furiously frustrated in that process. (Like Voyager HFTD Battle Blades Optimus might be accused of doing).

All that said the Hasbro one is hugely better looking than the sky blue Takara-Tomy one is even for all those finicky little element that make me think "If only".

I love how he's taller than FE bulkhead. (Glad to see he's not downsized)

Man, I never thought people making small nitpicks would sound worse than the crazy screaming ones with raging hate-ons.

It seems as though the critical reception to a toy is directly proportional to its age. I predict that in two years, people will be calling Dreadwing ingenious while slamming whatever is current in 2014.

The thing I don't like about tf planes is excessive kibble in the undercarriage ...can't tell how much kibble this guy has.if it's just the white pieces, although not making it aerodynamic its still better than the boxy tail end that Fe starscream has.

....this IS the Hasbro version?

I think this guy looks great. I can overlook the hands in vehicle mode, he'll probably be spending all his time in robot mode anyway.

Remember Cartoon Orbit? Try Collectoons.

...I'm scared now. XD

Hey, did anyone else see the stuff on the third page of the thread with the original pics? The guy posted some pictures of Dreadwing holding a minigun accessory from some other figure, and it confirms that he has wrist swivels.
