Before the great MP Soundwave (never to be done, ever) and Sideswipe (new size class) reveals a reliable insider hinted at future MP releases. Ultra Magnus was one of them and it was said that the MP-10 price point was a test to see if the market can support the new higher price point.

The reveal of SW and SideSwipe came out of left field and some believe that the originally intended MP's were moved back a bit to make room for these news ones. Some could argue that SW was released to crush the 3p group releasing one. And I would go as far as saying that the new size class is to go up against (and eventually crush) iGear's PP line.
