This seems interesting (to me at least). Metroplex's bio talks about him being an "ancient titan of Cybertron", and that he requires a massive amount of Energon to function. Those lines make me think of a certain passage from the FOC cover story in the Nov2011 GameInformer:

Far beyond that civilization, players will venture into the Sea of Rust. This vast, dry desert is filled with ancient ruins and fallen corpses of magnificent and massive Cybertronians from a lost age. Their hulking bodies will act as everything from roads and ramps to protection from attack. Rust storms blow across the desert, scouring everything in their path.

In the background of this screenshot you can even see one of these ancients. Cybertronians have gotten smaller over the years, with a few exceptions (*cough*Omega Supreme*cough*). But since city-bots aren't exactly a common occurrence on present-day Cybertron, I have to wonder: Is Metroplex the last of his kind?

Bumblebee has no ability yet we play as him. So whats to say some of the other characters with no ability's aren't playable.

Plus Jetfire is playable since we saw him in the gameplay trailer

It seems that all of the shown robots are playable except Metroplex, who is used as a filler because he is Optimus' ability.

Speaking of Bumblebee's level, what WAS in his ability slot?

"Where is it/you at?" (and similar statements using "at") IS BAD GRAMMAR. Thank you for your time.

I hate Jetfire's new model. His face looks derpy, and his head is too big.
It really bothers me lately that a small patch of color on a robot dominates the vehicle mode in some of the robots, like Jetfire or Brawl.
I like Brawl's new tweaks though. I'm glad that the site has made mistakes in the models, though, like Shockwave being to short and overly buff.

I'm pretty OK with Jetfire's robot form, the gold highlights look really nice. However, the gold seemingly multiplies when he transforms, it looks rather strange.

I bet Bumblebee is only playable during the tutorial--escalation and MP aside--from what we've seen of the tutorial, you're only being taught basic moves, so why use a character with an ability when you are baby stepping gamers into the controls of the game?

I’m sure it's no coincidence that Bumblebee, Perceptor, Metroplex, Jetfire, Shockwave, Brawl and Onslaught don't have abilities.

This game is going to have a number of notable NPCs in story mode. Matt said himself after introducing Metroplex that there were more characters to be announced down the road, and we should forget that Metroplex was mentioned or at least hinted at.

EDIT:

Thirteen stages, right? I'm guessing what character per stage with Optimus and Megatron being used twice depending on whichever ending you choose. Optimus, Cliffjumper, Jazz, Grimlock, Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, Vortex, Swindle, Bruticus are the only characters with abilities at present, so I'm assuming these are the only playable character.

Some characters might share a stage or at least a chapter of a story anyway. Jazz and Cliffjumper's stage is a seamless transition, no? I think I heard they have their own stage, but if it's a seamless transition from one player to the next, they might only have portions of a chapter. Like Grimlock and Starscream in Shockwave's lair.

Anyway, those worried about Wheeljack, and Sunstreaker should lose all hope just yet. We haven't even really heard about the Insecticons yet
