Hasbro Masterpiece Optimus Prime will not be Wide Release! - TRU Exclusive

Great,will be waiting patiently for it to be on the shelf.

Was doing a little browsing on eBay, when I came across a seller who had a Bumblebee I was interested in. So as I was reading through the sellers description for the auction, what the seller wrote on there caught my attention. He writes, "a great companion for the new toys r us exclusive transformers masterpiece optimus prime which will release the first week of August".

Does this seller actually know what he's talking about and OP will be releasing the first week of August? As I posted before a question I had, to know if TF figures are like video games, dvds and most things new that come out Tuesday, do they? Seeing that Tuesday is the end of the month (tomorrow).

Yeah Id really love to hear from a real insider. I would ask Hasbro CS, but we see where that got me the first time. LoL.

Waiting to find out when we can expect him is killing me!

Hey atleast we tried to do some digging to help the TF community out, most of us on here just cry or complain about things (yes, sometimes including me).

Toys aren't released like games. Sometimes a movie line will have a roll-out time (Spider-Man did, as did GI Joe 2), but most items will usually just ship with the regular product from the warehouses.

I know this because my ex was the store manager of a toystore for years.

That being said, on occasion, product is drop-shipped and that can happen on any day.

Just called my local TRU to check stock (since today is truck day), and the lady I spoke with said that the SKN I gave (863856) was listed as a "released space" and that they "wouldn't get any in." She did confirm that this number was listed as MP OP. Anybody know what this means?

I can't tell you how many times moronic TRU employees have told me that they wouldn't get a certain fig in only to have them get them eventually. Personally, I never trust what any of these employees say cause most either lie or have no clue at all. At least that's been my experience.

It means that the item is 'active' but they are not holding a shelf space for it due to the uncertain date of arrival.

What? So I'm friends with the local TRU employees. Sue me.

Thanks for the explanation. I gathered by the description of the item that she gave me that the employee thought this was an older item, possibly the previous MP OP they carried (hey, at least she new that the MP designation meant "big Optimus Prime"). This is most likely why she said they wouldn't be getting more in. I guess MP OP wasn't included in the recent store "newsletter," if there is such a thing. Working at a big-chain gas station/convenience store for two years while I was in ju-co back in the early '90s is the extent of my retail employment experience, so I don't know how new product info is announced and/or distributed these days. I imagine that, other than the managers, the majority of TRU store employees don't care about/pay enough attention to know about specific new items until they show up on the truck. They're just there to sell the stuff and field annoying phone calls from adult collectors of children's toys (self included). Can't say I blame them.

I checked on MP TC as well; listed, but none in the system yet for that one either. So the wait continues...

So called local TRUs again today.

Both were not elegible at this time. Also, all orders and DCs said 0.

So not sure when the hell we are getting this thing. Usually when the warehouse and shit say 0, it takes at least 3 weeks to get it. So we are easily talking about September on this.

I think this is bad news for either this or MP Thundercracker. I cannot see this and MP TC on the shelves at the same time.

BTW, for those who bitch about 3rd Party delays, I just want to point to the fact that not even Hasbro gets their stuff out on time.
