I'll be picking this up I'm sure, for the same reason as Trailbreaker.

Hot dang, I neeeeeed Optimus. Just got back into TF collecting a few months ago when some friends chipped in together to get me Takara MP Grimlock for my birthday. I live in SF were space is at a premium, so I think I'm going to focus on saving up for MPs right now. That price point is sweet, and colors are awesome, but I might end up just saving up for the TT version... having the boxes unmatched would probably drive me nuts.

    TT packaging is soooooo sweet.

I would argue that there's an exchange rate on time. Even a pallet that size wouldn't last a month after the eBayers went through it.

this is an op thread although i guess i can udnerstand the tc talk. poor cracker....takara's had reversed roboobs a few years back, hasbro's mp-11 bases tc has a questionable deco (shoulder stripes ?!?! refelctor!?!?!) and relatively poor QC on the paint quality....haven't seen a flawless one yet.

so back to op....no new news?

So is Skywarp the only one that doesn't have a new mold i.e. Both the Hasbro and Tak used the MP-03 mold for him?

Yes, but you're putting too much weight on scalpers, and it's not like there's only one pallet in the entirety of China and Hong Kong. Scalpers make their living off limited release items or shortpacked figures, not on mass release, single piece in a line items like MP Prime. Just because a place like the US hasn't gotten theirs, doesn't mean every enterprising scalper out there is going to buy up a toy in hopes of making a huge killing on it on eBay. Think Takara MP10, was there really anyone out there who was talking about scalping it? And that's a Japanese only release, this is a worldwide release! Heck, FE Prime figures didn't sell out in under a month in Asia. Even when news broke out that the US wasn't getting theirs at the time, the stock didn't disappear overnight. Even if there is a scalper factor, they won't be as likely to buy them all up when
    1. there are that much in the area for the local buyers anyway, why would local buyers buy through them? Scalpers have cost of money too, they'll spend on something that will guarantee them a decent return. Even if you factor in the other countries nearby who have MP Prime priced higher, cost of shipping plus "service" markup doesn't make it that competitively priced. Only a few impatient people out there are really willing to go and get one at this time at such a price.
    2. there are a lot of people expecting the US to come out with a $99 dollar one, why would scalpers risk buying them up, and then having the US release a much cheaper one for world-wide consumption on eBay or other sites. Same with other collectors out there.

Well, the MP-11 is relatively "new" for Takara and it's already had two releases. I'd imagine that they are pacing themselves instead of releasing a third version of the mold what with there already being... five[?] MP releases slated for this year.

As for Hasbro, Thundercracker was the logical choice being that Skywarp has already had a stateside release and shelfwarmed heavily. You might as well ask, "Why not Starscream?" He'd be a more logical choice than Skywarp considering the number of people who couldn't find him last time he had a Hasbro release.

I'm not sure what you're arguing now, I originally stated that these are shelf warming in China and you said that it wasn't exactly a correct term. Then I said that even that many in one store [stateside] wouldn't last, and now you seem to be saying that these are in fact shelf warming without saying as much because scalpers aren't interested in them...

Anyway, what I do know and gets back to my original comment is that this is seemingly mishandled somewhere along the way. And the blame appears to fall on TRU.

What I'm saying is that it's wrong to say its shelfwarming because a toy has been out a grand total of about a month. Just because it hasn't sold out in a matter of days doesn't mean it's shelfwarming, and it doesn't mean either that scalpers should be going out of their way to buy up a toy. It's almost like you want Hasbro to have these things be super hard to find or end up in the hands of scalpers, but they're not, they're available to the masses at SRP (even if it is higher than the US's, and they stocked it well - isn't that what we want? To be able to find a toy on the shelves without having to rush to the stores days upon release? You can say they're shelfwarming if its still there 6 months from now, but 1 month? Yeesh.
