TRU is going to be scalper heaven this holiday season. MP Prime, FE Prime figures and the Asia-bots too. Just gonna have to keep going up there a bunch. I am just glad I am friendly with an employee. I bet he will help me out!

There is a TRU near me in Delaware that had 12 MP Grimlocks at one time. YES 12! There were several on the shelf and then several cases up in the rafters.

It seems like TRU distribution is extremely uneven. Some TRUs don't get the MPs at all while others get alot like the one I described in Delaware.

I'm not sure if I'd worry about the scalpers as much with the MP Optimus.

Grimlock and Roddy sat out on shelves for a while.

Just my opinion but, it seems like scalpers go after Voyagers and Deluxes more because they're low risk and high reward. Meaning, they don't have to shell out much up front to get each one ($12-$30 each figure) and then they have a higher profit margin as a result.

$100 is alot for even scalpers to shell out up front for each figure that they buy especially because they try to buy multiples.

For example, if a scalper wants to buy 5 MP Primes to resell that's $500 bucks they have to shell out up front.

If they buy 5 deluxes that's only $60 of up front money they have to shell out.

I'm not going to pretend to know what kind of working budget a scalper has but, it can't be that high. Unless you're dealing with an online store buying them all up.

I seem to remember a similar conversation I had with a Hasbro product rep over the phone last year when Rodimus popped up. I was told Rodimus was held off until September at the earliest. Then I happened to stroll into my local TRU and I found him...the day AFTER I called Hasbro to see if they knew of a release date. My advice is not to trust what someone on a customer service line tells you ..ever. Case in point ...the FOC figures that are popping up. I was told they weren't being shipped until the middle of August...that's funny..I just saw FOC Shockwave on my classics shelf last night..lol IF the greleae

*IF the release date of Optimus had been moved from late July to some unknown date..Hasbro would have let us know by now..through an OFFICIAL press release. That would be like George Lucas cancelling Star Wars Celebration 6 and not telling anyone. Have patience my friends ..Optimus will be here soon. :)

I guess it depends on your income level. If you're in a situation where you only have $100/year for a hobby then yeah, anything at all will be expensive.

Oh man... I love those figures. I got one (the same one they made a Revoltech out of) for like $60 a while back, I want to track down the others eventually. Thanks for reminding me! Sort of... :lol

It's not that someone would try to swindle you but think:

    Prime: $100
Shipping: Prolly around $10 to $15
Tax: $8 (could go up or down depending on state.
And that doesn't even cover shipping materials.

I'd be able to do 125, if I trust the buyer... shipping material is cheap.... a newspaper is only 50 cents or so. hehe

I'd not be worried about being swindled.... but onslaughted? or vortexed? that could be almost as
    bad as Bruticused. hehehe

I heard from a very reliable source that it isn't going to be released until September. Not what I was hoping for.

Even if he drops in August - I wouldn't expect the first feverish rush of hardcores and scalpers wouldn't be over until at least September.

I don´t know... exclusives should be illegal and considered unloyal competition!!! XD
As for the price, well it´s what these figures always cost, not that I agree that a figure that looks all plastic should be worth that, but well, there is nothing to do if you really want the figure. Let´s face it, they look really cool and everything, great sculpting, etc, but color/paint wise, they look like a $40 toy.
I do want one as I am not prepared to pay the Takara price at all, but probably, at the end, I won´t be able to get it thanks to this "exclusiveness" (I can only buy online and I don´t think these will hit the online store)
I also hope that quality control wise, it is not near the P.O.S Rodimus was. This figure tended to break apart as soon as you took it out the package.

don't forget to factor in the time, gas and just the fact that someone is helping you out! But no worries, I'm sure I will be able to find many appreciative members that I can help out..who may throw me a few dollars for the effort.

Exactly, a difference between scalping and tossing a few bucks someone's way as a "thanks for your help random person from the internet".

I hate TRU exclusives. The ones I want NEVER show up at the nearest TRU. I guess I'll have to go order them on TRU.com or Ebay.

Please file this info under 'WTF' or 'Grain of Salt' but I just left my local TRU and one of the always helpful associates checked on both SKN's and gave me some very interesting info. MP Prime is still 0 on hand and 0 on order to the distribution center. However, Thundercracker was 0 on hand and 264 on
order to the DC. He said that normally would indicate that TC would arrive before Prime.

    The plot thickens.

We already had a shelf layout picture a month or so ago for TC at a TRU in North Carolina.

It does indeed - weren't we previously under the impression the TC would drop before Prime. That would be "before SDCC"?

That would line up with what I said earlier. It's not getting released until September. Meaning it isn't even leaving the Hasbro warehouses until then.
