Thanks a lot for the pics!

This is a tough one. I dig Swindle and Brawl a lot, Onslaught is okay and I'm not too fond of Blast Off and Vortex. The combined form looks great in terms of the head, chest and legs, but the arms... I wish they'd engineered the arms so you didn't have to extend them enormously just to get that elbow joint out there. I think it's largely that which makes him look silly.

I wonder... had they chosen not to make him Scramble City style, could the limbs have been improved? I don't own a Hercules or Giant, are they Scramble City or do they emulate the original Devastator?

Power Core Combiners... Fall of Cybertron Bruticus... Hasbro, no offense, but you should just stick to solitary, non-combining figures or hire the third party designers to do the design work...

All I can think of when I look at this incarnation of Bruticus is Will Smith from the the first Men in Black movie holding a Noisy Cricket... "I fell like imma break this damned thing"

The proportions aren't off, they're just non-existent, the Combaticons, while they do look decent, seem like hollow shells when you look at all the empty spaces in their limbs, torsos, etc. Maybe of Onslaught was voyager scale but... It just seems like this entire figure was rushed in order to meet the demands for Bruticus...

Just what would that do? They'd be under the same limitations as Hasbro's normal designers. Safety guidelines like drop tests, budget restraints, etc all while keeping in mind that they're for kids, not adult collectors. After all that, 3rd-party designers won't come up with much better.

Don't forget time concerns. People will literally wait years for a 3P to put out a single figure and pay exorbiant amounts for it, whereas Hasbro/Takara designers need to design and produce craploads of figures every year. And as you also said, adhering to a budget.

When you think of it it is a pretty cool thing. 5 robots that can merge Scramble City-style and no addtional parts that gets left out in any of the modes.

Personally I mostly want classic interpretations of the characters with solid bot-modes as the main focus. In that regard these guys don't pull it off.

Too bad this probably means Universe Onslaught and the retooled Tomahawk as Vortex won't be joined with their comrades in a satisfactory classic look and size.

I don't think I'll have them with my classics but I will be buying the retail version of these Combaticons though, possibly the Amazon G2 ones too and The Wreckers (Not that I want them to combine but it's not that we are likely to get those characters in another form for classics).
Probably won't bother hunting for this SDCC version though.

So about the idea that the arms can be compressed to look not-monkey-like...

Definitely better! The arms don't look too long or...wrong.

If a 3PC can make substitute connectors to fix that ugly gap, this toy would look pretty decent. I don't know if there's much they can do to the feet or hands, but if they can fix those and have some sort of cover to fix Onslaught's alternate mode, this toy would look very hot.

I wonder why Hasbro made Brawl Smaller than Swindle, and Onslaught smaller than he should be--Swindle is taller than he is in robot mode.

    That looks friggin fantastic.

I don't know I'm not sure if i want SDCC Bruticus? The gold on Blast Off and Vortex has me worried about Gold plastic Syndrome.

Was gonna repost this myself if you didn't.

I knew their was a better transform for those arms. :)

-ZacWilliam, can't wait for this guy. Folks can keep their overpriced 3rd party junk, I can't wait to get my hands on this cool, fun Transformer.

    Looks extremely tidy to me!
Do remember guys, these are all deluxes, quadruple changing deluxes that you're going to be able to buy in a shop. Hands and feet not separate pieces. When did we EVER think we'd even see this never mind having several variants to buy. Yet the immediate bitching.....

Can Hasbro release anything these days without an immediate 'When's the 3rd party kit' cry?

You know, for a modern combiner that is Scramble City(with no partsforming to boot) working with the video game designs which shouldn't work in real life at all, Hasbro did a good job. Glad I got mine secured.

Swindle and Vortex as the arms, Blast Off and Brawl as the legs has been the best looking configuration I've seen so far.

Yeah, I would prefer Swindle as the smallest one. The silver lining though is that in the Wrecker version Roadbuster will be the biggest! Which he should be :)

Is that really gold plastic though? Isn't B.O more like cream/beige and Vortex beige/brown?
