Hasbro MP Optimus coming to Australia in October

I just rang up Hasbro Australia, asking if we will be getting the Masterpiece Optimus Prime here, since it will be in America soon as a ToysRUs exclusive.

From the product manager (via Customer Service, who put me on hold to ask) I was told that it was offered to retailers here, but none would take it at this time...

I've now rung up ToysRUs, to double-check, just in case... and it was lucky I did.

This isn't going to help Hasbro's image here, but they gave me the wrong information. (looks like the retailers know more about Hasbro's products than Hasbro does)

Masterpiece Optimus Prime WILL BE HERE.
ToysRUs have two shipments coming in. One in late September (in stores early October), one in November (in stores for Christmas).

Price will be AU$150.

Based on this, my guess is that it will be at TRU in America at around the same time, and for about US$100. (which seems to be a ceiling price for TFs in America)

If it sees release in the UK as well, £100 would be a great price when you consider that's what 20th Prime cost in TRU.

I don't remember him being that much. Thought it was more around the £50 mark. Though my memories of that day are tainted by years of anticipation being ruined the minute I opened it only for the legs to fall off at the him. As did every single one I've owned.

I can't wait for this toy.

Also $1 does not equal £1 so £100 would not be great price! However it is the price we are likely to get.

Takara MP-10 was $250, not $350.

And for the record, worth every penny. Not loving the shade of blue that Hasbro picked - too light for my taste...

*edit* ah, you probably meant $350AU....excuse me while I wipe the egg from my face...

How does Takara win? Hasbro is still cheaper and more affordable? Or wait are you trolling?

I wonder if it'll be release in Toys R Us Malaysia because the Takara release here is ridiculously overpriced.

I'd seriously considered holding off MP-10, and had done for some time. Partly because of the number of releases derived from MP-1, I'd wondered if, say, a year or two from now an 'ultimate' version of MP-10 might include Drag/Huffer. Anyway, after getting a few Transformers from Robotkingdom's ebay store, I bought MP-10 from their own retail website for $260 to Australia. Even though I didn't combine shipping and save by spending more on anything else, haha, that's still $20-100 cheaper than most of the deals on ebay. Who knows? I could keep the Takara version misb 'til I can sell it and but the Hasbro version in the interim, but I haven't sold anything from my collections yet.
