To me, it's all part of the market spin. I don't consider there's to be any evil purpose, whereas I associate lying with intent.

But I can see how some can view it as lying in that way. As far as effort, how do you measure how much effort is enough? And when the effort or lack thereoff can constitute lying?

Who, me? Yes asia, Indonesia to be precise

I'm pretty sure the RiD Vehicon will get a chance in a new waves later ;)

Yep. As regular as they can get

My supplier didn't say, but I believe this release are meant for Asia region

FYI, BH is already released and headin towards me as we speak. As for Optimus... One can only wonder... Maybe because they short case them so bad in the first place?

    That's one perspective.

Another perspective is, by some miracle they convinced Toys R Us to sell Arcee, Ironhide, Ratchet, and Rodimus OVER A YEAR after the show was stick-a-fork-in-it DEAD. I'd call that "effort." Also, they focused on getting the new molds out instead of the repaints that we would have scorned if they'd come in the middle of a line. You'd have to pay me to take a "Mercenary Swindle."

The only real shame was missing out on Blackout, but I found it trivial to obtain a Takara one very reasonably.

As for poor Rumble, it's hard for a show to survive the axing of a network, and it's hard for a figure to survive the axing of its size class. At least Rumble wasn't specifically flogged at BotCon.

also he was the wrong color anyway

    Thanks a ton!

I'm buying one from a member for $35 shipped so if these do show up in Asia, it'll cost me about the same to get one imported from there (going by regular Prime prices on places like RK) so I'll just buy the one I had lined up.

Just wanted to make sure this wasn't a US release and I'd get hosed out of $20 :lol

They didn't lie. They said they'd try their hardest to get the materials out there, but of course thanks to the way things work on the internet that became "HASBRO PROMISED THEY'D DO IT". If a retailer won't carry an item or toyline anymore, then there's no hope for it and ultimately what the retailers order and decide to stock is more important than what the fans want in order to continue the business.

And as I please don't do the whole "WHAT ABOUT HASBRO TOY SHOP" angle, as even then they need to worry about their relationships with retailers for OTHER toylines and for the future.

First off, I sincerely appreciate that you're willing to have a reasonable conversation about this topic, instead of the kneejerk responses I see a lot of the time on this forum.

I think you're right, perhaps "lying" is too strong of a word, and perhaps "spin" is more appropriate. Though even "spin" has intent-- the intent of smoothing things over when the situation is unfortunate.

In my mind, the line is crossed when there is no evidence of follow-up. If they came to Botcon this year and said "well, we tried X, Y, and Z to get Rumble and Frenzy on shelves or online, and here's why did hasn't happened. We plan to try A, B, and C this year", then that would be something. As it stands, they cancel a release (again, sometimes this is usually reasonable and understandable), then haul out the exact same "we're trying to get these into the hands of fans" song-and-dance every time, nearly always with zero results.

I don't begrudge Hasbro cancelling toys, but I can't stand that they spray crocodile tears all over the audience and expect us to lap it up. Just man up, say it's probably not coming out barring an act of god, and move on to the next sweet reveal.

Unless Rumble and Frenzy were shipped in the same case, in the same numbers, or a two pack, there was always going to be one more scarce than the other, and thus 'scalped' resulting in having to pay over odds to complete the set.

And anybody who's been at this for a while could see it coming a mile off.

Sometimes it just easier to cough up for the Takara version and get on with it.

Which part of "Hasbro Asia" did you miss?

Given the context, i was referring to Hasbro Asia, who i believe would usually do an assortment otherwise.

Plus, HTS as I understand it isn't actually Hasbro; I think it got brought up on the podcast that it's actually a separate store that licenses the name. So they have to buy the same case assortments and such as everybody else.

Now, for the TFA stuff, I would like to hope that if the subscription service takes off and does well, that they use that to get some of the TFA repaints out there, given the toolings/paint decoes do exist and the club likely has access to them at this point.

Of course, if that ever happens, you'll just have a) people whining that their Takara Wingblade Prime/Hydrodive Bumblebee/Blackout are gonna go down in value, b) people whining about how the club's releasing these and that Hasbro should have done it themselves, despite the above reasons c) people whining that the club should be doing original stuff rather than just taking planned cancelled Hasbro releases and making them. Oh, and d), the people who really want these figures but are whining at how the club is charging "so much" for them despite the fact it's a MUCH smaller production run than anything Hasbro would have done, and e) the people who don't want to sign up for a subscription and then whine at the price of the figure sans subscribing or that the figure has sold out before they had a chance to buy it, despite having plenty of time beforehand to just either subscribe or work out a middleman deal.

Realistically, the TCC getting these out is probably the most likely approach in the long-term; after all, if you all recall, that's how the Universe Seacons eventually got reissued.

I think, Opinions on that one are split......but it is apparent Hasbro exert little influence on HTS.

Hasbro asia tend to have the same case composition as their US counterparts, except for a case that doesn't exist in the US (like dotm soundeaves, fe bulkhead, etc)
In this case, the ha sw is 4 in a case with either 2 roadbuster or 2 black bee

Takaratomy, however, tend to ship theirs in a solid case per character

You're forgetting that those were slated for release in a dying line. TFP on the other hand is just getting started.

And TFP First Edition is a separate subline independent of the main line.

Though the molds could still get out there. Maybe they'll do another 2pack down the road; who knows.

Word. I definitely did this with Rumble/Frenzy, and with Animated Blackout. When in doubt, get the toys in your hands ASAP, that's my motto.
