To a Primus holder there's a cutoff apparently because the rules don't seem to apply to dealers and the walk-ins have no guarantee at getting all the figures.

Any walk-ins wanting to join the club also were screwed out of Runamuck. If your only going to bring a very limited amount of Runamucks, shouldn't they have been made available to future members instead of allowing dealers to buy also?

Well Pete apparently you have been left in the dark and since you don't have to make these lines, you don't have to go through the hurdles we have to. I've been a Primus package holder since the beginning and as far as I remember the limits are lifted on Saturdays not Fridays.

Regardless of the reasoning or what we fans want to see happen, selling out toys at the convention is a good thing for FunPub. It's publicity; it says "holy shit, look at how well we did!" Obviously none of us are sure of the exact numbers of those figures that were sold to fans rather than retailers ...

Point in case: it would have been cool to see FunPub maintain a solid limit to retailers and attendees. Increase it a little bit throughout the weekend though and sell extras on their site.

Who are we all kidding though? If we're a business and we see someone willing to drop 50K and clear our stock out, it'd be hard for us to say no too.

Why? This is a money making scheme, not a fan club. They don't give a shit about you. Just however much $$$ they can rake in.

Please tell that to some people on this board. It seems that going just to have a good time is unheard of.

Well, like I said. It depends on the fan. I'm sure there's a majority that go only because the toys are the incentive that gives the push to plan.

Cause let's face it... for the money you drop on botcon you could take your lady somewhere romantic. You could go to Hawaii. You could pay off bills or a million other things.

The toys are a big push to get people to attend.

And that's the main reason I have not attended. It's way cheaper for me to go to TFcon and get my geek socializing on and it's smaller so I have a lot more time to hang out and actually meet people I can have a conversation with about more then being in line.

So, in theory...I could take A LOT OF MONEY, buy up FunPubs entire inventory at the show, jack-up prices to whatever I want to sell them at because I bought up all the exclusives and give the finger to all the fans?

Believe me, I know the toys are a big incentive but I do know people who go to just have fun and vacation. If they just get the protoform package then they are only spending $150 on the actual 'Con. I don't count hotel and airfare as that would be spent anywhere you go.

Welcome to the wonderful world of capitalism!

*edit* Just so I don't sound like I'm contradicting myself, yes you can do exactly what you just stated but I like to quote the old saying: "Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD do it"

Yes, you have that at any con really.

I live near DC and have worked for some anime cons and a lot of people came because they wanted to hang out. sure they liked some anime but they weren't all about the J-rock bands or autographs just wanted to relax and have a good time.

Or Dragoncon. I went one year to meet the twins from Potter. Only reason I went. 3 of my friends tagged along just for the fun and to make sure I came back, didn't get arrested or to see in person if I tried to kidnap twins.

So, there's always different con crowds.

Exactly...buying a couple to re-coup some costs or hooking up others is one thing. Buying up a huge chunk of inventory because your a dealer aiming to profit big is just being a douche.

Pete: you are getting good, honest feedback here. You are being informed of a problem. I don't WANT the dealers shut out of the equation completely, but nobody wants to see scalping going on at the con, on Saturday.

I am unconvinced that you'd lose a single sale by lifting the limits on Sunday, not Saturday. There is an obvious, qualitative difference between orders of hundreds vs. singlets, so there's no pleading ignorance.

Moreover, I realize that you don't want to be stuck selling leftovers, so could it be possible to work out a partnership with a small number of online vendors, rather than just throwing them to the wind?

You are a business AND a fan club. Moreover, the success of your business is related to your success as a fan club. Please don't dismiss this.

I had a great time at the con though, I want you to think of this as constructive feedback. :)

Would make no difference in sales for FunPub if they opened it up to dealers on Sunday instead of Saturday.

Whatever did not sell out on Sunday, WOULD sell out on the FunPub website once they opened those up for sale.

But that would never happen anyway - smart dealers wouldn't want an influx of Botcon stuff suddenly driving their prices down - no, they'd certainly clean FunPub out on Sunday and hike the prices to a point they'd stay at.

It's a win-win for FunPub. They'd lose nothing by doing it on Sunday rather than Saturday. But they'd GAIN more fans of their company. Which lately doesn't seem to be what they want, so, y'know.

I do appreciate the feedback. Only thing I am trying to correct is the notion that somehow attendees were left without a chance to buy multiples.

I have already passed these concerns on :)

Any Primus package holder who arrived late Friday night/Saturday morning and general attendance/ walk-ins had no chance period in buying the Junkion 3 pack or Runamuck.

Attendees were certainly left out when you allowed a dealer to buy up 200+ sets of the Junkions. Its not hard to figure out, this isn't rocket science.
