Wow. They do look small on those cards. I will still pick up Shockwave, Bruticus, and Magnus. To those saying the Prime looks derpy, he is correctly transformed in the Botcon photos.

Probably because WfC Prime was the first figure desgined for this line, they only later decided to bring Voyagers back into the mix, notice how the soundwave on display is a hand painted prototype, he isn't very far along at all.

This would also explain why Magnus only has a new head and a retooled weapon whereas Sideswipe and Fireflight have much more extensive differences. They were likley done later and the idea to develop different parts at the initial development phase came after Optimus had already been completed.

Magnus might only be a Prime skin with new head in the game.

Looking forward to Jazz and Shockwave...we'll see about Optimus. I think Magnus looks better with that mold. Overall the FOC subline looks fantastic :)

    ... are you kidding me?

Voyager has much better feet, less obtrusive grill/plow/gut, different gun mounts and looks altogether sleeker. I mean, they didn't reinvent the wheel or anything (or change the transformation scheme... at all), but calling it just a straight upsize is extremely hyperbolic.

Anyhoo, it exists because it's pretty much built around the gimmick. It wouldn't work at Deluxe, and they haven't really tried a minion gimmick for Soundwave since Cybertron, which was pretty well received (the gimmick... the figure itself was terrible). I don't mind the scale much for a couple reasons. For one, Soundwave's always been freakishly huge, I'm used to it. G1 Soundwave, after all, towered above Prime and Megs. For another, given Hasbro's mildly insane "Prime and WfC are the same continuity!" stance, Voyager Soundwave can chill with the Prime figures. If I want WfC scale, I'll leave WfC Soundwave with them.

Well, there’s Soundwave and a black recolor Soundblaster with different minions.
A Grimlock toy was hinted at, but it’s the very definition of speculation to say ‘So he’ll be a Voyager, too,’ or if he even exists, really.
Like I said, he was hinted at.

Well, a backpack for tapes slapped on is a molding change.
And he comes with two of those tapes.
And, you know, he does have molding detail changes.

I really don’t understand this at all. Do they really look that tiny?
Maybe it’s because they are packaged in robot mode and their lower legs are obscured behind the packaging.

Of course they weren’t displayed next to any War for Cybertron figures or anything like that but when I saw them in the display case at Botcon I never once thought that they looked small.
I literally spoke with a couple of dozen people about these figures and no one ever brought up that they thought they looked small.

Now, here we are on the internet, and there’s literally 300% more Fall of Cybertron toys than there were War for Cybertron toys and people are complaining about the figures are too small, Jazz and Sideswipe are retools, and Soundwave… exists?
I honestly can’t even begin to understand the complaints about Soundwave.

yeah, i paid 15 for Knockout yesterday... but that happens, and as stores have sales, that'll help determine which extra/borderline figures i buy...

    Smasher, you are wrong... :thumb

probably because they made that addition later... that said, we could get a voyager Prime later, and we're getting a Soundblaster repaint of Soundwave... it said wave 1 as well, but i highly doubt they'll do 2 figures in different colors in the same wave... my guess is at SDCC we'll see Grimlock as part of wave 1.

but Optimus has that body in the game, so that wouldn't make sense...

i think they looked small in person, but certainly not as tiny as scouts... it's also hard without having something to compare them to. I shoulda grabbed one of my Botcon figures to takes photos with them for comparison sake. oh well... Prime was the only one who i felt is really small, and that's because of his alt mode, it looked small to me. these are probably on par with Prime deluxes, or DOTM deluxes, which are a bit smaller than Animated, ROTF and Generations...

and yeah, whining about Jazz and Sideswipe being retools is silly, and Soundwave because he exists is even worse.

Well that's certainly the first time...

    TODAY!

Did we talk about their size?
I remember we said something about Kickback's not being as insanely large as the Insecticons on Prime.

But honestly, I was more impressed with Masterpiece Optimus Version 2.0 on the shelf below it so maybe my viewpoint isn't the best.

At any rate I don't remember looking at the figures and going 'OMYGAWD they're small'. I was mostly amazed there wasn't a Bumblebee in the group. :)

    That's what she said.

Also, what do you guy think about these being packed in robot mode? Like, I know its traditionally not how deluxes are done, but I think its good from an advertisement perspective, especially if they want these to stand out from other TF product in the same pricepoint.

WFC figures were also in bot mode in package. I think it also has something to do with the fact their vehicle modes are just... well cybertronian. So people might be like... "What the hell is this? This isn't a truck. Where is meh Optimus!" "This is supposed to be Jazz? Wut!?"

I think it might have to do with that and a combination of just having the robot mode be more recognizable etc.

Yeah, agreed. I won't be surprised if they start putting them in alt mode again once they move to other non-FoC stuff.

Yup. In fact I would be surprised if the other (Non-FOC) generation figures WERE packed in Robot mode.

Thank you so much for posting this comparison! The new Generations Prime looks to be 75-80% the size of the other mold. What a terrible letdown and a huge miss by Hasbro.

    No sale.

Shockwave's height looks pretty decent at least, that's all I really care about.
