Loved Battle Beasts as a kid. Me and my little brother had a bunch and would have kept getting more if the line kept going.
And THIS is more like it. These are so much more what I want in a Battle Beast revival than the Minimates stuff.

Looks like they use the Bot Shots type tumbler in the chest. Plus battle dice, and cards, and sometimes hand held weapons and playmat boosters? Thats an intricate seeming game. But I'm cool with that.

Design-wise I think a few are just slightly on the "staid" side. So many of the originals were so weird and quirky. Some of these are just a little "normal." That's a very minor aesthetic quible though. They're really a pretty good update. Some are spot on.

This guy is RIGHT ON the old Battle Beast style:

    These are pretty close too:

I would 100% buy these if they came out in the US. Part of me wants to import them and I don't import anything.

-ZacWilliam, wishes Hasbro would import these and throw a new Battle Beasts anime on the Hub. Sold.

So wait... These are totally unrelated to the battle beasts return in the US? With IDW doing the comic? Weird...

Okay, after some research, it seems like it's a coincidence that the US and Japan are doing Battle Beasts again at the same time.

Unfortunately, that means it's VERY unlikely the US will get the ones here without importing...

I love Battle Beasts (obviously), and these DO capture the spirit of them far more than any other recent attempt at an update. But I dunno; I'm not sure if I want to start collecting ANOTHER line, with so much other stuff coming out this year. I might pick up a few.

I could do without the card/game/dice aspect of them, but I guess that's how you sell stuff to the young'uns these days.

Considering that Battle Beasts was pretty much the only Classic 80s action figures that DID incorporate a game mechanic into themselves originally with the Rock-Paper-Scissor-Anihilating Solar Flare mechanic it's rather appropriate and fitting I think.

Honestly it's part of what makes them feel like real Battle Beasts to me.

-ZacWilliam, if they get a US release I'm definately in... as imports... only if I come across them in person at a Con or something likely...

For anyone who's wondering, the new Battle Beats being put out by DST in America are totally unrelated to anything with the previous Battle Beasts/Beatformers or the new Takara Beast Saga. The just put the name on a Minimates subline.

This line by Takara is actually something new and will be closer to the classic line from the 80's.

My enthusiasm just fell as I realized that they're not flip symbols, but the dice are stored in their chests... Ugh.

Not to steal any thunder or customers to robotkingdom, but BBTS has them for preorder today too.

So, I guess I was right in assuming they were Battle Beasts. I hope they do a Transformers/Battle Beasts crossover of some sorts....to give a nod back to the 80's and that episode they were featured in.
