The fact that it's only a color sample doesn't mean much to me. I see it as an example of how the club is still using factories that don't give a shit. I mean really, they couldn't come up with one left arm to impress their clients? That's just lazy.

All of our toys are shipped to us from the same factories that produce the mainline Transformers. Again. That was the only sample I had on hand. The other ones were fine. It was a pic I took on a whim because of the comic panel we released... Since consumers know that their actual BotCon toys are fine over 99% of the time I didn't think that much about it...

I am ecstatic about being able to add Metalhawk to my Classics/Universe/Generations line. He is one of my favorite Japanese TF characters. I’m not attending the con, nor am I buying the box set, but I’ll be buying this guy on the aftermarket for sure.

The blue looks just a hair darker than the original mock up photo and that is a good thing since the original MH was a darker blue. From what I can tell, it looks like all of the parts are cast in the appropriate colors which is great because I hate it when entire pieces are fully painted. I like him having a human face as it is going to really stand out among all my other Transformers.

Yeah, but I already have the same mold as pre-BW Rhinox and SG Scoop (aka Movie Grindcore). Do I really want a third copy?

(Although, given that the mold was officially repurposed as SG Scoop, it's only logical, I suppose....)

^Heya Pete, not to worry, as I still like it overall, just maybe the Pretender face... and helmet's single head fin needs to be painted red! Cheers, cannot wait to get him and Overlord! :D

at least they've switched to blaming the manufacturer rather than an insideous plot on the part of FP to give us "less than perfect" toys.

Good plan. He makes up in vintage cool, size, weaponry, show accuracy and playability, all of which this version lacks. Plus the original actually looks like a Japanese dude.

Hey Pete, maybe you missed these questions yesterday, but I was wondering:

    - Since it's just a color sample, is there still a chance that the fin will be painted red on the final product, or is that off the table?

    - What is the protocol for non-attendees to exchange defective parts in a set, on the off chance that it happens?

Since Pete won't answer, I think I can help.

    1. Not happening

    2. Either:
    A. send defect back to them and roll dice as to whether or not you will ever see it again or
    B. Be told too bad, so sad.

you know, just once it's be nice if we had a thread about Botcon where people didn't bitch about the toys being repaints... maybe those suggesting brand new toys haven't been fans for that long, but i'm just so tired of it... new toys at Botcon are 99% impossible... the only possibility i could ever see happening, is if Hasbro let Botcon use a mold first, then released it to general retail afterwards... but then i'm sure someone would bitch about that too...

    1. Correct. It was too late to make that change.

    2. C. We will do exchanges just like we have for the last 8 years for any that may have a QC issue...

oh, that's a bummer... was it on the original concept you guys had? or did it just slip by whoever approved it?

Dude, chill the rage. Step away from the computer and take a deep breath.

Thank you Pete for clarifying that.

Nah. No rage here, just honest answers (which I was right about BTW). I've found that the best way to get Pete to answer something is to give the answers for him.

    He HATES that.

You're pretty good at customizing, MMM, maybe you should design the 2013 Botcon set for him. Then maybe next year's set wont be mostly dogshit.

I'm good at customizing? LOL. That's news to me.

I'd be no good at coming up with a Botcon set. I'd drop anything and everything SG, do a lot more G1 updates and maybe try inventing new characters, but that's about as far as my ideas go.

not sure about the custom comment at all, but creating new characters and g1 updates would be fun... i'd still love to see g1 Treadshot done with Warpath... that mold just seems like it'd be great... also, if Botcon is going to bring in any new blood, it should be WhiteMocha, that dude is amazing...
