Huh, I bet this got a lot of people very excited. It kinda makes me want to sink my teeth further into the MP line, though I usually can't afford to. Come through for us Hasbro and TRU! Something about this interview makes me think that Sideswipe will be roughly Hot Rod size (c'mon, they are clearly talking about robot mode scale). MP-10 owners, is there any feature on his back that could accommodate a rocket pack? :D

Love love love designer interviews. The sheer thought that was put into this release really impresses me. Also, if they'd slipped Huffer into this I probably would have scraped together the $250!

Great interview! Thanks, Syd and Sol! Now, if I could only find a MP-10 for less than $250. :lol

Edit: And thanks to Masabon, too! :)

thanks for posting this translation. Always very interesting to read about the MP line.

Reading this it's suddenly clear why MP-10 is so much more playable than any previous MP and so sturdy compared to MP-09 (poor Rodimus...)

Was very interested to read the comments about future MP's. Scaled and therefor different size classes is a welcome addition for me. Unfortunately it doesn't quite answer the question how large Sideswipe will be (alt mode would make him roughly alternity scale, but robotmode scale would make him about Binaltech scale -- hoping for the latter).

Fun read. Thanks for the translation!
It seems Sideswipe will be in proper scale. So curious about the final figure.

MP-10 is the best Prime ever. Got mine from HLJ for 17600 yen. Don't regret it one bit.

Maybe he can get Huffer into the Hasbro release!! ...even though there won't be a trailer to pull.

Hot Rod is too tall to be in scale with anyone else (he's taller than the Seekers when he should be shorter) so I doubt Sideswipe's robot mode will be as tall as Hot Rod's (he should be shorter than the Seekers). Hot Rod is so tall in order to get Rodimus Convoy the same height as Convoy.

If TakaraTomy didn't develop him (they developed Offshoot for Rodimus per Hasbro's request) than it won't happen. Which is a shame that they didn't develop Huffer any way.

    Masterpiece COMBINERS!

Does that mean "smaller" MPs? Like Alternators sized?

That guy sounds cool, he made an amazing figure with MP10 and i hope if a v2 Megatron is coming he is the designer. I like how he's trying to bring the MP line together in scale and not just having each one as its own "centerpiece". This interview gave me some new hope for the MP line and i now look at MP12 in a more friendly manor and look forward to what they come up with after. Shame about MP Huffer tho :(  maybe they could get him in with the US release instead of the trailer, spike and roller?

But then Huffers entire gimmick (the reason he wanted to include him) would be pointless without a trailer.

"edit" Thinking about this a bit more, I wouldn't be surprised if Igear or another 3rd party tried to pull this off at some point in time.

Hopefully at Botcon Hasbro gives us a teaser of sorts. I'm surprised myself, even though there were some images of MP-10 where the name Hasbro was watermarked on them. That right there is our only clue.

Great interview, the guy definitely knows his stuff. :thumb  And the idea of Masterpiece Combiners...should be interesting if that ever comes true.

I hope we get MP Aerialbots, that would be an epic surprise, besides, Hasui Shogo IS Mr. Starscream after all, he's spent the past years designing all kinds of Starscreams so if any TF design team guy is going to take on a jet combiner team, I think he would be able to pull it off.

He seems to be quite taken with Bruticus LOL! I'd love to see how any plans for a combiner would play out.
