Yeah, I'm a little bit more focused on proportions and cohesion in the robot modes than being set on scale, but I absolutely agree with your basic idea, sure it's a good enough passtime to wonder if and how Sunstreaker or Ultra Magnus would or should be done, but this side of learning out any more, I'm quite content to know Sideswipe's on the way for now, so long as they can do him well! Basically, boiling down different (fans') ideas of what makes Sideswipe while reflecting well on the Masterpice range.

Actually, weren't the Binaltechs 1/24 scale? That would mean this MP would be arn the same size as BT-02 Lambor if it's to be 1/24 scale.

I think this is something many of us have been keeping in the back of our minds. To respond directly, the jetpack and one set of piledrivers are shown in the follwing video - not mine - that I'm posting here for the sake of conveniece; some may not have seen it, others can geta refresher on what I'm talking about.

MP-11 Sideswipe reveal trailer - YouTube

As I've said a core figure alone, done well with the two main weapons would be fine by me too.

I could see either of the acessories above being included though. MP-10 retains of all things Optimus Prime's energon axe from MTMTE so the jetpack, particularly a cross compatible one - would recal those earliest episodes that much more. While MP-11 Coronation Starscream uses an accesory from one scene only to boost expectations for a Masterpice Galvatron perhaps, Sideswipe's jetpack could be used a a little statement by Takara to show how intent they are on making te rebooted MP line cohesive. Such a jetpack might obviously fit on MP-10 and MP-12 in different ways. Perhaps it could even change shape and size somewhat to fit snugly and proprtionally on either wearer, not to mention preventing it from being a single featureles block of plastic lol. With MP-12 inevtiably being considered for its potential for at least Red Alert too, maybe the roof attachment point for his emergency lights could be the socket to connect Sideswipe's backpack?

So from MP-10 onwards we'll have some cool MTMTE references, Sideswipe practicing jet-judo and threatening to stick Starscream's nosecone up his afterburner and the leader of the Seekers pretending to be friends with Red Alert! Bit off topic maybe, but it does make me think of a good question: if Sideswipe gets inbuilt acessories like the piledrivers, how will this affect Red Alert's design/equipment loadout? Maybe just an attachment port will be built into the arms, like MP-09, or as MP Sunstorm demonstrated, getting someone else's acessory is possible too haha,

I think I'd be okay with just the figure and standard accessories, but like I said in my blog, think it'd really be cool to have the pile drivers too. The drills, I'm particularly fond of if only because they look so cool and their appearance so fleeting before changing into piled drivers again.

I dislike the idea of MP releases sharing accessories. It was pretty sickening when they released each seeker with a different coloured Dr Arkiville, really, that's plain lazy and it's supposed to be a masterpiece after all, so molding another tiny figure cannot be that cost prohibitive.

I'd like it if they could make the figure available with or without the five second wonder style accessories.

I'd be perfectly happy if he has his shoulder launcher and his rifle. If we were to get any other accessories like a jet pack or the pile drivers, they'd be a bonus to me.

Debatable. If would all depend on the transformation sequence and Takara's efforts to make the passenger compartment suitable for, well, passengers. You can cram alot of robot in all that otherwise open space. Also, look at MP-09 and the Alt/BT Ford GT. They have a similar size in car mode and yet Rodimus is far taller in bot mode.

I suspect that Takara won't go the extra mile to make the vehicle mode as detailed internally as the BT/Alt line turned out to be. That is, if we are to use MP-10 and MP-09 as the baseline. Starscream appears to be a fluke given that the cockpit isn't vital for hiding bot parts.

Yes, nobody's going to get a news credit for suggesting that Hasbro will probably accommodate that demand. ;)  While I agree with you, the jury's still out for me on which I might chose; understandable since so much in this thread is going to be guesswork, haha.

Maybe back in the thread when MP-11 was announced, a few people wondered, if seekers had to be done again, then why not something more original? So I suggested the Cybertronian pyramid fighter mode of course but said also if HasTak wanted to do something diabolically good to sell more MP Seekers, maybe they could release one of a like pair of Soundwave's minions with an MP-11 based release. Such as MP Frenzy with Skywarp and Rumble with Thundercracker, where Laserbeak and Buzzsaw could obviously be substituted otherwise. The possibility of MP Huffer/Drag came up in the MP-10 design interview where it was basically said this would be the only opportunity to attempt the smaller figure. While the Lamborghini brothers transform from smaller vehicle modes to quite reasonably sized warriors, I wonder if including MP Mini Vehicle characters with Masterpiece Autobot cars could be a good thing to look into down the line?

Good points here. While we of course have no way of knowing for now, I think some kind of token interior with the basic console shapewith an all in one steering wheel etc is a fair expectation. The space you mention might even be used for vehicle mode weapon storage; that would be in line with theself contained nature of MP-10's folding weapon storage and the stems for MP-11's null rays.

Wait... so was this confirmed?? I must have missed that. I think I'll be fine with that size, though the cars will probably feel too big for MP10. Obviously the "Spike" figure that comes with him won't really be compatible with the cars...

Yah man. Pricing of MP11 is quite expensive compare to the price last time for MP01

I thought it was mentioned that MP-10's weapon gimmick was more a throwback to the cartoons transformation scheme. Granted that would suggest the same for Sideswipe but it's all speculation at this point. I would think that if the figure holds true to the G1 figure in any way, the arms would be right on the other side of the doors in alt mode. That would throw off any chance at a decent interior.

Yep, or nope, whichever... pure speculation. Nothing more.

So I put together this quick photoshop paintover by using a bunch of different Sideswipe figures and MP-09 as a base. I am a total fan of how they addressed MP-09's hood chest and I am hoping they take queues from MP-09 when they start prototyping Sideswipe.

Agreed. I'd bet on a MP Roddy style simplified interior. And I prefer them to use that bit of extra room to accomodate a better bot mode TBH; nice as BT/Alts are, the line tended to jump through hoops to keep car mode features intact and this often compromised bot mode/transformation.

But you never know, I could be proved wrong and they could find some ingenious complex Masterpiece transformation that keeps an interior + steering wheels etc. Don't think they could pull it off at less than 1/24 scale though.

I'm certainly not hanging any hopes on more than what you suspect for the interior either; with the incorporation of Spike with MP-10, there's a slight hint of that Human Alliance approach coming across, but if we're even going to expect this feature to be translated across to MP-12 then one might as well think a human figurine would be included to make use of the feature.

Now imagine some time into the future where a significant range of Autobot cars are given the Masterpiece treatment. If they all included even the simplified HA element, that would mean alot of shoehorning with MP Autobots being paired with figurines of incidental characters that appeared in one or two episodes, once the handful of main recurring humans had been used. So in this regard a detailed interior seems less likely, so far as being carried forward in the MP line goes.

That said, even now the MP line is rebooted, accessories that might've only featured in one episode or a couple of minutes of the '86 movie still find a place in Masterpiece releases, of course they feature prominently in MP-11.

Who knows? Maybe if the bulk of MP-12's forearms - aside from the doors that is - could be layered like a laminate and unfolded flat to form the chassis, with the hands tucking in under the dashboard/console area. However this would almost certainly rule out any inbuilt piledrivers or other acessory (attachment points) in the arms.
