That big sword just look so sweet

 

I took the kids to Toys R Us today to buy some toys and while I was there I snapped a picture of AM-01 Optimus Prime with his Arms Micron (I didn't realize that he had it in his hand the last time I saw him. These Arms Microns are actually pretty big!

I don't know if it shows well in the picture I took, as I used my cell phone and it was behind a plastic case, but I think you can make it out still--I don't think the new Optimus looks all that bad. Sure, he doesn't have the dark gray the First Edition has, but the red and blue look pretty close if not the same on this guy--I couldn't compare him to the FE as they are no longer sold in stores, but they look pretty good.



The light-blue crystal (couldn't get a better picture--I tried) on the side of the gun has an Autobot symbol in its center, pretty cool; though, I have to admit, it's weird seeing an Autobot symbol on Shockwave 

 

Wow that is a big honking targemaster on Prime. I wonder if that is due to the downsizing of the RID figures or are these Prime Targetmaster designed bigger than the older ones (PCC, Nightstick etc)

Do the Destron arms microns combine as well? Can you mix and match?

I can't wait to see how the other RID figures would look like in the Takara colors like Arcee,Bulkhead,Hot Shot,Knockout and the Vehicon!

 

Prime's minicon definitely looks superior to the US-version's transparent weapon. Saw RiD Prime in person the other day; he's not terrible, just more simplistic and "toy-ish" than FE Prime. I still am baffled as to why they didn't paint his curved rib pieces red. It seems like it would have gone a long way to selling the look of the figure. Maybe those areas get some friction on them in transformation, or something?

I'm gonna end up owning the guy anyway since he comes bundled with Rodimus' minicon, so I'll be interested to fiddle with him in person and see if he grows on me.

 

My primary concern is that the eventual Thundercracker will be one of those Toys R Us mail in offer gimmicks. I just hope he's available for out right purchase.

I know you've gotten your answer already--just wanted to point out the Arms Micron description in the first post.

I believe all Arms Microns are interchangeable; they do, however, have faction symbols in side their crystals though.

Megatron's gorilla Arms Micron looks like it transforms into a sword and blaster on its own as well (at least it looks like it can in that scan). Cool. Does the Hasbro version light up and do the same? I really like the Takara version all the more now since it transforms into a character and is also a gestalt!

and no that is not Wheeljack, that's Ratchet. Wheeljack has not even been announced for the Takara line and the release dates for japan are listed all the way up to July.

Interesting side note, Skywarp's "Bombs" that he gets instead of missiles also show the Mircon Arms connection ports.

I guess this confirms it, the Arms Micron gimmick is a Takara Tomy Exclusive also, Takara's versions of the full line will all sport Arms Micron ports (something Hasbro's version, apparently, will not).

Megatron's Arms Micron Gora does in fact transform into a blade and cannon 

 

Anybody from japan here can show me where I can preorder the Optimus Prime to get the freebie Firebolt? If you can send me a finished search result of the toy that would be very appreciative. I am having somebody pick it up for from japan, but he can't seem to find iton Amazon.jp as the flyer has said. Thanks for anybody able to help.

 

I think I found the link to purchase this but don't know if it comes with firebolt or now. Does all preorder for the transformer optimus prime come with the firebolt. The amazon.jp one doesn't mention it one way or another...
