I've lurked for a while, and I joined to purchase an upgrade set from Maidenjapan.

I've been watching this whole debacle for a while now. The emails Brian has sent are a total joke, I'm also betting an inside job. In regards to his statement that fraud does happen online and nothing is 100% secure, it's a lot more secure than his site. It's pretty rare when places do get hacked, and I'll give a prime example, BBTS. Over 13 years of business and NEVER once has their site been hacked, it's never gone down, and never had any major issue for it's customers.

Since much of the talk about all the recent issues with the club is spread over multiple threads I'll address those here.

There is no excuse for the Drift problems. Not one, I don't care if somebody messed up in the factory there are QC checks for that reason, and the club should have inspected their product BEFORE shipping any of them. The one and only solution to that issue is to get sets of fists and guns which would be sent out with the free figure later this year OR they actually take the time to find out who needs the corrected sets and sends them with that persons figure. Pete@Botcon, I've noticed you tend to be too personal in your posts. You represent the club and convention, and to pass this off and blame a faceless person is unprofessional. Your first answer should have been "I'm sorry this happened, please get in touch with us and we will make sure to correct the issue."

I'd like to see Hasbro step in and pull the plug on FP, but I doubt that will happen. Obviously they are getting a nice cheap deal to have their IP's given clubs and conventions. Sadly, that cheapness is shown. As people have stated the website is beyond poor. The amount of exclusives at the con is a bit much, as are the prices. The charge for bubble wrap has been a great example, and charging 60 dollars for a nonmember for a tshirt is beyond price gouging. The average cost of a shirt at its highest would be roughly 40 bucks, and that includes the pricey ones you'll find at concerts.

As a cocktail party tidbit, I am sure many of you remember the 2006 convention in Lexington, KY. It was the last con I attended, I've been unable to go back due to the location choices and the time frame (I'd really like a rotational set of locations and a standard time frame during the mid summer, like it used to be). I went to get the boxset and the premium figures. Luckily I was able to grab a set of each (Megatron with Lazerbeak), (Waspinator and Buzzsaw), I don't recall off hand the cost of each set, maybe someone here does. However, after purchasing the sets I returned to my room to mess with the figures and read the comic/brochure. If anyone has it on hand I suggest browsing through it. On the back page was a general FAQ about the con, and one question was about those premiums and their cost. If I recall, the Megatron set was listed as fifteen dollars cheaper and the Waspinator set as ten dollar cheaper than what everyone else paid for them. When I did the math I found out that those small dollar amounts equaled out to be around 10,000 more dollars in FP pocket, when I asked Brian directly his answer was that is was a typo.

I'm sure many have read and utilized when stores (namely Target) mislabel an items price they must honor it. It's an FTC regulation and against the law to change the price. Those brochures were printed before the convention, and I'm sure somewhere on one of the boards is the listed price (or a picture) of how much he sold them for. I knew then that he shouldn't be allowed to run the convention. I even at the time tried to talk to Ryan of Seibertron about this issue, and he had seemed very interested, unfortunately I was unable to find him until after he won his little award for the website, and his answer was "Why are you trying to ruin this."

I mention that because I know many didn't know about it, and if you don't believe me, just dig around and find the information for yourself.

To sum up, this has become a giant joke, and with the security issues and the poor QC with Drift it's time for something else. I was there for all of the drama during the Hartman brothers and Glen, but at least we got everything with minimal issues. The Unicron statue shipped late, but it shipped, same with Sentinel Maximus. When I got a Tapout figure with two left arms I was immediately given a new one, no question. When we had the War Within plates, and people were worried about getting one or the other, I suggested to Glen at the end of the con that if people ordered two why not make sure they get both, and he did. The only figures that even got to nearing production, Hot Spot and the Skywarp PVC, both would have happened, but unfortunately Hasbro felt FP was a better solution.

I seem to remember a scenario involving one of the worlds largest companies in a similar scenario just last year.

They waited a few days to announce the potentiality of credit card fraud, and when they finally did, they went a long way to appease customers, going so far as to silently bow for a long period of time at a press conference regarding the issue.

Hey FunPub, have you been living under a rock for the past decade or what?

Because this miiiiiight be the straw that breaks the community's back over your recent flubs.

I think it's not much of a stretch to say that FunPub handled this in just about the worst way possible.

No you don't owe TF Source an apology. I got hit with cc fraud after ordering some figures from them during their first cc breach. I have never placed an order with funpub though.

yeah, i wouldn't do that... i'm thinking of just mailing a check...

when did he say anything remotely close to that? from what i saw, he said they were looking into it...

    HAHAHAHAHA!!!

do you really think QC checks happen to every single figure? they pull out 1 figure from every 100 or so, if not less, and check that... mistakes happen, hell, I bought a Cybertron Downshift at Target once that had 2 right arms... shit happens... that said, they should fix that by sending out replacement parts, if they have them available...

and $60 for a tshirt for a non member is actually only $20 bucks because the other 40 goes to your membership.

can't really comment on the price changes other than to say maybe things change? if those brochures have to be printed early then the full costs come in and they have to sell for more, maybe that just happens? and i don't think it's happened since, which would indicate that the issue you had 6 years ago was resolved 5 years ago at the next event...

The QC on this is beyond ridiculous, when was the last time Hasbro had this much of an issue? I never said check every figure.

The issue with the convention figures should have never happened and been fixed then and there.

Just wanted to chime in here. Still have not been hit yet. But I'm watching my card like a hawk. I used my debit card and soon as I get a chance to go to the bank in person so I can get a temp card I will. Need to get a new one anyway a corner is a bit bent and now the card won't read at the gas pump. Annoying.

But, I had a new issue with the club. I renewed my membership on feb 1 and went to log into the site the other day and was unable to and told my membership expired. I had to call up and get it sorted out. Basically if you get the membership along with other purchases they may miss it.

So check to make sure your membership wasn't missed. Don't want anyone to miss out of their freebi figure if you've already renewed over an oversight.

You used your debit card and you haven't cancelled it yet? What are you waiting for? That's not a credit charge that can be dismissed. That's real money that you will be missing until the bank investigates and gives you the money back. Most banks take about a week. Do yourself a favor and cancel that card!

I'm going to repost these here for people that don't want to give out their actual credit/debit card numbers. This is also for people that don't want to mail a check or money order.

I didn't check the price of the tshirts but doesn't the price for non member include 40$ for a membership? That's how the exclusives work.

I know places like Walmart will honor the price if its labelled wrong but there are plenty of grocers that put up signs saying "Sorry we inadvertently advertised this product in error". I'm not sure of the details of the regulation but maybe the items have to physically be marked at a price?

Useful info when they start processing again.
