True, but as with the OTFCC Sentinel Maximus situation way back when, Hasbro stepped in when OTFCC folded to make sure the people who pre-ordered were taken care of. Since this is the official TF Fan Club, I am sure an agreement could be reached with PayPal, Hasbro, and FP where if FP fails to take care of PayPal paying customers, Hasbro could step in. But it would also take a leap of faith from the customers not to file a claim months before any figure was shipped out. FP could mail a welcome kit to the club with DC which would satisfy the PayPal side of the user agreement.

You can add tracking numbers to paypal. i do it all the time....of course it's a manual process and probably not how they would need to do it.

Stad brings up a valid point though, the club magazine and the club toy won't ship immediately after payment...in essence your pre-ordering the membership. I didn't consider that.

I know I have paid for pre-orders via Paypal to RobotKingdom...how does RobotKingdom do it then?

I figured it would work. I just do it manually because I don't print anything.

Are you talking about club exclusives that you buy from the store? I don't recall the membership freebie ever having a tracking number.

As others here have said, You can add a tracking number to paypal. Besides,
they should be sending out an actual email to you when your item ships with the tracking number anyways.

I just got hit. I know I haven't been posting regularly in this thread, and my last post was a while back, so I'll retell my previous story briefly.

I had cancelled the Visa debit card I used to buy Over-run, even though it hadn't been hit. Just thought it would be better than waiting around to see what would happen. Especially since it was tied directly to my bank account.

Fast forward to today. I get an email from Capital One. This is the only credit card I have. I got it to help rebuild credit. My usages of it are extremely limited. I only use it at BBTS, Amazon, and the Google Android Market. According to the email, there were suspicious charges. I log into my account, and see a $1 charge to yahoo wallet. I look back as far as I can into the history, and see one other place I used the card. FunPub. I used it last year to buy the club exclusive SG Cyclonus and P/CP. Had I realized I used it back then, I'd have already cancelled and got a new one. Too bad I'd forgotten. Minor inconvenience. As long as none of my BBTS preorders come due before I get the new one, it's not a big deal.

So I called the credit card company, and they saw the $1 charge, but halted the card when the following charge tried. It was for $1,395. Problem for the hackers was that even though it only has a $41 balance, the total limit is $500. A charge that high would never go through anyway. Card is now cancelled, and a new one is on the way.

So this proves it beyond a shadow of a doubt. Even cards used a YEAR ago can be compromised.

OK. Though I fail to see how the point is a failed one. Let's discuss.

Yeah. I'd guess those sales can be ignored for this argument's sake.

    Agree.

Common sense, yes. Conspiracy theory? You betcha.

But I agreed to the no hyperbole request, right? So, let's not call it 'conspiracy theory' and call it what it is: speculation.

As others have pointed out, FunPub isn't only dealing with this situation right now. There's both clubs renewals deadline (which due to their own fault, are being processed manually). BotCon 2012 and JoeCon 2012 preparation, which I'm pretty sure takes a lot of logistics time. The ongoing shipping of the exclusives. And more.

So, while I can see the reasoning behind your conclusion, I can also see the reasoning behind FunPub's "we're working on it. you'll know more when we can disclose the information." As you said, it's just common sense.

Oh, I'll vote with my wallet. Thing is, I can't vote with my wallet until BotCon 2013 is announced, TCC 2013 Exclusives go on pre-order or next March when it's my time to renew. I think that gives them a pretty big window to improve, though sometimes I wonder if these many months will be enough for them. :D

You can bet that if the status quo remains the same by next March, I won't renew. I'm even considering dropping BotCon and going to a different 'con. I hear TFCon is great, but I'll need to get a canadian visa.

    Wow.

Actually, it would appear it's even a bit longer than that...if you used it to get P/CP and SG Cyclonus, that would have been nearly two years ago as they were released June 14, 2010. Last year's exclusives were G2 Ramjet and Animated Cheetor (June 15, 2011).

If the last 2 rounds of exclusives were in June, I wonder why they released this years at the end of January?

    They were ready earlier?

I think they schedule the actual production of the exclusives at roughly the same time they schedule the production of the BotCon exclusives. With an April convention this time, the club exclusives were also ready earlier.

If your preorders come in but your new card still isn't available, I think BBTS will send out an email saying they had difficulties processing your card and will hold stuff for a week while you fix it.

    I think.

The more that comes out about this, the more it just stinks of an inside job. The amount of information that seems to have been stolen is insane. And the fact that FP was holding all of this information for such a long period of time is also strange. Scary to think of all the people who haven't dealt with the club for a year or two and who have no idea what they are currently left open to thanks to all of this. I'm wondering, has anyone reached out to any larger news sources with the information we have?

So they are absolute LIARS when they said they don't hold CC info? What other possibility is there?

Call me paranoid or a conspiracy theorist or whatever, but this is exactly why I haven't sent in the answers to any of those ten questions Fun Pub wanted.

No other company that has ever been hacked (that affected me) came around and asked me for more information... not one. They usually had an answer within days about what was taken, what wasn't taken, and that was it. I'm really curious to see what is going on with this "investigation" so far, as it's taking way too long for us to even get BASIC information. We still don't even know the extent of what was taken!

I definitely don't need to volunteer more information about myself as right now, I'm with you, we don't even know if it was someone on the outside!

And the really fucking sad part about this is the "poor us" attitude that we've seen thusfar from the club. From the very beginning they tried to brush the blame off onto everyone but themselves. And their continued statements as to the "support" they've been getting in calls and emails from fans is laughable. They act as if they've been shelling out a great service for years and that this is the first time their quality as a club has been called into question. If they did get hit from an outside source, okay... fine. Sorry to hear that and it sucks. But the fact that they had shoddy enough security blocking all of this information is on THEM. And they need to take some damn responsibility for it before this whole "no comment, we're still investigation nearly two months later" attitude gets them into some real legal trouble.

Just wanted to chime in to this mess. I just closed a credit card because of some fraudulent activity. My account was being charged with miscellaneous purchases from the UK, from grocery stores to pharmaceutical purchases (drug stores?). I only used this card to buy gas and signing up to the club for that Sideburn exclusive last year. I was one of those people, "Yeah it ain't gonna happen to me." But yet it did.
