I haven't seen Hasbro produce a great combiner like this since PREDAKING.

 

I think I now know why we've only seen head shots of Bruticus up until this point.

 

Highly doubtful, the kind of plastic has been seldom used in the last few years by Hasbro/Takara, and the shininess of the toy in these pictures is most likely caused by the over-alteration of the photos in Photoshop.

That has to be one of the strangest things I've ever heard, especially considering Energon Starscream isn't a redesign of G2 Smokejumper. Similiar transformations are bound to happen in a brand that's been around for nearly 28 years.

What a huge let down. Yikes.

 

Did some colorblind guy do the colors on Vortex? Because... those are not even close to his in-game colors.

The guns combining is a nice touch and reminds me of Ruination.

I LOVE Blast-Off, easily the best of the bunch. A bit even steampunk-ish!

I hope Onslaught's wheels can be rotated so that the peg doesn't show. And that the cannons can be mounted on his back as Bruticus. Same for Vortex's rotor blades.

Also, anyone notice that the Bruticus hand inside Vortex's feet is shown with an open palm? Maybe it will have moveable fingers...

 

It might not be that bad.

 

I love each of the figures individually and only think Onslaught might have issues with how his vehicle mode looks compared to the game, every one else is fine... Then I saw the full Bruticus and laughed like a manic because it has to be mistransformed, then I looked at it objectively as 5 figures of the same size class trying to combine without resorting to add on parts, and fell in love. I'm going to get it because the combined mode is the bonus for getting the 5 of them. Plus where else can you get a combiner for the price of 5 deluxe figures? And I already made a promise to myself to get all the FOC figures and the Xbox version of the game... The WFC Universe is too good to not support.

 

Are you colorblind?

These are the colors on the concept art.

The head and the chest and the thighs should be blue, and the rotors and swords should have no red on them. Plus, he is brownish grey (like the G1 toy), not gold! Though I am certain that the latter is only due to the photoshopped hue.

 

Wow. The proportions on Bruticus are quite terrible. I don't think "properly" transforming the figure (assuming that's even the issue) can fix what's wrong with it. This is why 3rd party stuff will soon outnumber HasTak stuff in my collection.

 

My point is that it's still predominantly tan/red.

I don't like the lack of blue either, quite honestly, but I suspect it's probably a plastic color limitation of some kind.

 

Vortex's colors are a bit weird. My most major complaint however (after seeing C16's normally proportioned pic), would be the massive inaccuracy of the individual figures. Some of them (I'm looking at you, Swindle) can't even hold up as a normal looking toy. And very simple transformations. Though I must admit, I will be getting this.

I really hope the extended arms are just mistransformation   Definite improvement over the Energon Bruticus, hope it's a sign of things to come

But yeah, that picture really got my hopes up again.

 

People whining about simple transformations on the Combaticons seem to be forgetting the compromise that's involved in designing combiners.

Heck - case in point, let's look at the TFC Hercules figure. GREAT combiner. But all the individual bots have relatively simple transformations; no question about it.

Also, even FansProject's Munitioner/Explorer. Fairly simplified transformation schemes when it comes right down to it.

Maybe there's half of the fist in each leg, or one leg has an open hand and the other a closed one. In case you want to swap them out.

 

I think Onslaught's 'vestigial arms' can be flipped back and they increase the bulk of the rear of the vehicle mode - they are just mistransformed.

The hand in Vortex is just one piece, as the other half hides the nose-cone-gun. And from the joint I don't think it is removable or even rotateable.

I think it's supposed to be tannish grey and pink-purple (like the G1 toy on which the FoC colors are based on), but the Photoshop effects have muddled it.

I am mostly annoyed by the lack of blue - it is not a plastic color limitation as those parts are all painted on the toy. If all else fails, I will paint them myself, of course.

I like how he got swords - since the gun is now integrated into the alt mode.

I don't get the hate other people show towards Blast-off, that design is pure awesomeness.

 

Clip/peg? I dunno, I'm just going by Vortex's robot pic. It looks like he has an open hand stored in his right leg.
