Yeah...not liking this move - I have to put up with alot of news that I'm not interested in at all, to get to the stuff I like so this doesn't really sit right with me in having the content I'm interested in filtered out.

Surely there are way more people voicing their negative opinion about the bayverse than there are people voicing their negative opinion about third parties. If so it would only make sense to start filtering out Bayverse stuff too.

I'm of course not suggesting that you should filter out Bayverse related news, I was just making a point, saying that unless you create a feature where people themselves can fully customize what news they are interested in then a solution like this is just going to create more problems than it solves.

PS: Have the advertisers chimed in on this? Surely this move will mean that the more expensive third party products will get less attention and thereby affect their sales.

There was a demand for that ?

- Their must be some very quiet Hasbro Zealots.

Considering there's been 6 weeks periods where the only news is 3rd party I can see that not being my preferred choice.

Because they are more interesting than a lot of what Hasbro does ?
or to put it another way what's better an Anakin Skywalker Quad Changer or Cyclops ?

All toy reviews are the same concept. They discuss the same issues and criteria. There's literally nothing different about them, so there's no reason to split them up. When I look at the reviews, I scroll down until I find a toy I'm interested in. I'm sure 3rd party haters can do the same. It's far easier for them to scroll, than to force us to open another window.

I don't care for movie or Beast Wars, but I wouldn't want those separated out.

Perhaps Brave, Chinese Oddities (like those awesome Number-bots) & Starcats & KO Reviews can go in the Third party review section ?

I'm with you though I'm in this hobby 80% for the Transformation play Pattern and 20% for the fiction I'm happy as heck when there's a nice TV show like Beast Wars and Prime but I don't obsess on them.

I'm more happy with the Transformation play than I am that it's a Transformer - so that is why you'd never hear me slaggin' off Gobots or Rocklords.

And anyway It's not like I see Hasbro being in a rush to do Classics Rewind and Eject lately.

No, this isn't a good idea. Did it ever occur to anyone the reason third party traffic is taking up so much space is because Hasbro is barely doing anything right now? Or they're just releasing repaints, or younger-aged elements like this Bot Shots thing that very VERY few of us are interested in? Or the fourth/fifth/sixth Bluray/DVD release that few of us care for since we own SOME version of the media already?

And, as other people have pointed out, what about those that hate the Bay movies and want that filtered out? Or are tired of any info coming from Japan since they won't be buying into any of that anyway?

I don't mind the idea of having a third-party thread all to itself, but to filter out NEWS of things doesn't sit well with me. Because now anything third-party, news or not, is going to spill into that thread, where before some of that brunt was taken by the toys forum.

I understand what's trying to be accomplished, but I think it needs to be rethought.

Barely doing anything? They've got the TFP mainline, the movie trilogy line, they're bringing generations back this year and they've got Kreo now in addition to the pre school/pocket money stuff.

Hasbro are pretty busy.

I don't get why there is so much venom thrown around. While I dont like forum splits like this I think maybe it will help keep the hatred down a bit. Sheesh people.

Awesome. Only just now seeing most of this stuff coming to the surface, and only because the conventions and floor shows are starting to come around. Prime line is old news until it hits the shelves (sightings) and most of that is going to the Toys forum anyway. Kreo is popular--I'll give it its due. But up until, what, last week there's been little tidbits of news. And that gap has been filled with third party news. It seems obvious to me why the forum felt flooded.

My point, ultimately (and I didn't make this clear) is that when Hasbro actually starts bringing images around of other stuff besides what we already know, the news forum will begin to get flooded with all the official news again. This feels like it's finally beginning. Wasn't like that a month ago.

This was why I wasn't to keen on the idea of splitting the news element of the forums--but I also just read that news of all kinds will still be allowed here, even third party. That's where my beef was, and we seem to have that whole thing resolved.

Sorta annoying that people who can't handle third party news, and seem to want the site to help them cover their ears and say "NA NA NA NA, I CAN'T HEAR YOU!"

Sadly Hasbro and Takara news is so slow these days they need to filter 3rd party to find news to print - 3rd party really is the #1 source of material for the Classic collector these days. The only Classic figures we know about for 2012 so far are the ones from the club. Nothing from hasbro besides a coupel toys we might repurpose from the Prime line.

Well, apparently I'm completely wrong again, and all third party info--news or not--goes in the third party thread.

So my beef still stands. And Scaleface has nailed it.

This seems to be an active movement on Transformers fan message boards, anti-3rd party people are lobbying to get all 3rd party news and coverage isolated to it's own sections so they don't have to see it taking up half the space. Some sites have taken to so far that you cannot mention 3rd party items in a thread about a character or design theme, or moderators erase your post, lock the thread or warn you... That makes no sense to me.

Another chilling trend was on polls. I asked a poll on another site about who was your "Classic" Huffer toy in a general forum - did you use the G1 toy, PCC, Botcon toy or the igear Rager. That poll got locked because it mentioned a 3rd party toy and was not in the 3rd party section, but if I posted it in only the 3rd party section, most people wouldn't see the poll it answer it, ONLY those with the igear Huffer would answer!

BTW - Can we get a special news page that has no news about those horrid Bay movies? That might be something useful to me.

People soon forget the months when the 3rd party stuff was the only thing to talk about as there was not anything very much new from Hasbro for most of the end of 2011. or the Takara items came under "How much!!!"... "I'm not paying that for toy" territory.
