    Botcon Non-Attendee Registration Next Week

Just got an email from the club saying non-attendees can register next week.

We will not be opening registration for the non-attending Iacon packages this week. We are working on a minor software update and we have had multiple requests to wait until everyone gets paid at the end of this week. So, we will probably turn it on around the middle to end of next week. Have a good holiday!

I'm getting a bit fed up with this. I've spent every evening in front of my computer for two weeks because they can't commit to a date and it now looks as if I've got at least another week of this if I want to make sure I can get a non-attendee package. Software issues and money doesn't seem to have stopped the attendee registrations.

Follow BotCon on Twitter and you will get an alert as soon as they go up.

Well, that re-opens up a glimmer of hope that my finances will come through such that I can get a set after all, but it's not a strong hope.

I'm not crazy about the set, anyway, but it's definitely good enough I'd get it if the timing was better (note: this is not an accusation against FP for not catering to me, personally, it is just a statement that it, for me, not the best timing).

Although I reported this first (admittedly by mere minutes), it appears the other thread is the one where the action is. Can I get a news cred and merge?

At least they gave a couple of hours notice that the registration is being pushed off to sometime next week.

How does that keep him from wasting time in front of the computer for the reason he stated?

Agreed. I wish I could get back the moments of my life that I have wasted checking the Botcon site this week. If you say it will be up this week, then by God put it up this week. The club half-asses things way too often. We've been receiving technology related excuses from them for YEARS explaining why this or that can't be done or hasn't happened. It is getting really old and really lame to be given excuses year after year. The club has had months...even years....to work this out.

I'm not on Twitter and have no idea how to use it. Wouldn't I need to be sat in front of a computer to get a Twitter message?

Not if you set it up to send updates to your mobile phone. However, unless you really are into that kind of thing (and if you were, I'm guessing you'd already be on Twitter and know how it's used), I'm not sure I recommend it.

They should announce that it will be open sometime next Friday. That way its still not a set time and some members won't waste another full week on the computer.

...I've a simple phone and can't get twitter updates on it, even if I wanted to (I don't).
So this means ANOTHER week of checking often to find out when it comes up. I wish they'd at least give us a day for next week, even if it was Friday or Saturday, at least then we'd know. Plus, I can't be the only one who gets paid bi-monthly, and next friday is my payday, not this one.

Your simple phone can't receive regular text messages? You can set up twitter to send you updates as simple texts.

I have to agree with some folks here, I'm not on Twitter and have no desire to ever be on Twitter.

I'm not "on twitter" either. I signed up for an account set it to follow @Botcon and then changed my settings to receive texts whenever they post something. And I have never been back on twitter since.

I am surprised that the packages have not yet sold out. I guess getting people to take the whole set of six is a hard sell. It seems everyone has just one or two figures that they like from this year's offering.

I'm not really surprised. I agree some people seem to like only a few of the figures, if that.
