The article has its points but everything is one sided. It reads like a veiled propaganda piece and/or a US-centric editorial. If this was a high school essay I'd give it a B-.

The biggest fallacy is that firms won't invest more into research and development for fear of being ripped off. Some firms will, but other more innovative firms will go out and develop new, better technology.

Also, not to get sidetracked, this article is talking about straight-up knock-off. The jury is still out of where companies such as Fansproject, Maketoys, iGears & others fall.

and what i was saying is that i DO think its ok with some, less ok with others. i forgot to mention that i think the guy at 75 should get away with it, while the one at 100 shouldnt.

The only real issue here is that this shouldn't stay in the news section until something is confirmed, but what's the harm is discussing it?

My point is, don't click on this thread if you don't want to see wild conjectures. If any real news comes out it'll be updated on the front page.

Really Pete was the source? The same guy who is directly effected by 3rd party good because they interfere with his outrageously priced repaints?

As I said before just a lot of hot steam from people who think they know but don;t know jack.

Don't get me wrong, I still get a good laugh just skimming the thread, but it's sort of like making fun of TVtropes: It's hilarious but at the same time you kind of wish it wasn't there.

You're completely right though in that this could maybe go in another subforum.

2007 was the only set that was worth while but then again I paid $90 for the box set and 20 or 30 for Huffer.

I would also say that the pre beast mode BW set was cool.

Other than that they are overpriced unimaginitive pieces that take advantage of fan addiction.

3rd party over Botcon ANY DAY!

pretty much. Why buy repaints you can do yourself?

hahaha Petey, dude, why so serious? Why so bitter? Why the fugly ass toys? Before telling me what I can or can not do how's about making something worth while for me to buy first?

I'd buy it if it was worth it. I just got an invoice for my heavy labour.

This. I'm loving Hercules so far, but I think it would be AWESOME if Hasbro totally ripped off their idea and released it themselves - same robots and everything. And then they maybe just look at TFC and be like "What now?" :D  Or if they made MP Ironhide and Ratchet like, tomorrow - and released them. Giving a huge middle finger to Igear. I love third party stuff but if HasTak was on the ball, I wouldn't NEED third party stuff.

Also because it takes copious amounts of time and skill. And best-case scenario, it still won't be as precise/high quality/durable/playable as a factory-producted injection-molded figure.

It's the same with 3rd party products. I'd much rather have one sweet exclusive than a dozen mediocre DOTM figures.

If this is true, I hope they do not take the approach other companies with monopolies do (I know this isn't a monopoly since it is their IP and such) and simply squash the competition without stepping up their own products.

Hopefully they do something out of character and put out some high-end collector targeted toys. A whole slew of original Masterpiece figures would be awesome.

For me it is a mixed bag; I like what much of third party groups are producing but, if I can get a similar product for cheaper I will. If Hasbro handles this by flooding the market with good stuff great but, if they are just going to shutdown the likes of pp5 and Hercules that would really disapoint me as a cunsumer. I would rather hasbro beat the third party companies with quality and products I want to buy as oppose to simply shutting them down. Make sense?
