A year later BBTS still has 3132 Seacons in stock as of today it seems. For folks travel to Hongkong or Singapore or somewhere else, you can probably find a wall of Seacons collecting dust in retail toy stores too. Plenty made.

It's probably too early to conclude Amazon Unicron production was done in small numbers, that a scheduled October release toy was sold out in August and never be available again, but that's just me.

That's how this seems to work now a days. First do a limited release to drive demand. Get everyone crazy that they missed out. Then in like 3 months, flood the market.

It's really a scalpers dream come true. Get it early, sell it high before the mass release hits the market.

FYI, from a danger perspective Irene was a pretty weak storm but from a damage perspective it was high as the slow moving storms have the hugest potential for flooding.

As for the bitching. I can understand payton's point even though he didn't word it nicely. If your life and the storm is your biggest concern then you have bigger priorities then getting a Unicron. But on the flip side, I understand for the people that got hit by the storm that getting something like Unicron could make their day/week/month a whole lot better.

Yeah, this number doesn't sound right. 5,000 units maybe. That's probably the lowest that Hasbro will go down too. Maybe it's a minimum order of $500k which would translate into 10,000-16,000 units with some of those units not going to Amazon but worldwide. Or maybe it's that Hasbro won't sell unique orders unless it's to somebody that orders 500k of other items.

EDIT: Oh and my source is I think at one of the Botcon 2010 Panels when the club said that getting production time from the factory is a bitch because they produce such low numbers. I can't remember if the number they threw out was 5,000 or 10,000 but I believe they were just generalizing.

Yes in my area it was somewhat weak, but the media hyped it up to massive proportions.

To answer Payton's question... I was spending my time and money getting supplies, clearing off the porch, making sure there weren't any trees that could smash our house, and all the other thing you do to prepare for a storm that unfortunately was mostly hype here.

I'm pretty sure Payton didn't mean that comment in any negative connotation. It's all good.

Its pretty crazy, I agree. I mean, its only been a few days. I can see it happen if it was a year after. People should really "wait" to make sure Amazon isn't restocking a second batch, otherwise, we will get bitching threads about how Amazon Unicron is back in stock and everyone complaining about how they brought theirs for double/triple the price and Amazon somehow "screwed them"

I hope people realize that Amazon does not need marketing gimmicks to sell stuff or create demand. They sell stuff in high volumes everyday and toys is a very small part of their sales. And based on Amazons business model, they don't throttle their inventory.

I'm not trying to bust peoples hope on a restock but as a person that worked in marketing, I see things differently than from a fan.

For some of us, our hobbies are our lives. :)

Yeah, obviously if I was in the USA I'd be more worried about the hurricane, but the USA is a big place, I bet people posting here about missing out their orders are not affected by it (otherwise, they'd not have electricity to use the net... or time to use it).

True but the US, and the world for that matter, is not so big that we can be insensitive towards others just because the crisis hasn't effected you directly.

Exactly the condition I would be more than happy to receive for the chance to just have actually ordered one.

Yeah I'm glad I got it but if it comes back in stock I'm re ordering and returning lol. I don't like that the box has dents on both sides.

I'm just pissed mine never got from my cart to purchase. By the time I clicked purchase, it was gone. Complete f**king BS! I mean I had one IN MY CART for F's sake. I should at lease have been able to get the one I selected. I am hoping they restock. I feel cheated, and I think I have a right to in my case.

Hasbrotoyshop does the exact same thing. Putting a figure in your cart doesn't reserve it for you. It really sucks.

This is just a small glimpse into the craziness that is Amazon around Black Friday. Want to see a board light up with pissed off customers? Just watch the goldbox forum around that time.

Anyway, I'm sorry you didn't get it but Amazon, unlike airline tickets or Ticketmaster, doesn't hold your item until you check out. Only time they do that is on the goldbox deals as far as I know and that's limited to 15 minutes.
