And that's the kicker. The amount of production effort and resource put into a $60 and $120 version of the same toy are likely going to show significant difference.

I'm happy to be getting my 2010 today, but I deifnitely think the Amazon version i pretty nice for what it costs.

I have the Takara version. It is dead ass sexy. The Amazon version looks like ass to me.

 

For someone named "Optimist," that sure was unnecessarily harsh. How is it "hardly recolored" when it is completely different from both the Armada and the Takara? And it's not cheap looking either, it has just as much paint as the Takara one, minus the panel lining (which I was never a fan of in any toyline)

 

This thread is a lot of self-justification for the version people either already have, or the version they are planning to get. Nothing wrong with that as long as everyone is happy, but it's fun to observe.  

I don't own any version. When I saw the 3 side-by-side I picked my favorite without knowing which was which, and I was happy when I read further on that was also the one I plan to get. Even happier because it's the cheapest one.  

I think the Takara one looks cool, but too bright orange for me. Something about the Amazon one makes me like it more. *shrug* The only one I don't like is Armada.

 

So are the lower legs reversed on one of these Takara or Hasbro?

 

I have the 2010, but I LOVE unicron, so I will definitely pick up an amazon one.

 

No, he just transformers them differently. The little hemispheres on the shins are completely rotateable

I'm so jealous that you have 2 City Commanders and the Takara 2010 Unicron. I'm holding out for the Amazon one (cheaper on my checkbook).

 

Oh definitely man. If I didn't randomly find a good deal on ebay, then I'd be 100% Amazon and be done. But, I'll probably pick up the amazon one anyways.

Btw, for anyone wanting to maybe see a bit more of a detailed 2010 pic, here's one that shows off more the face detailing, and some of the upper body panel lining. This paint scheme is nuts:

 

I cannot believe they didn't make those eyes green. WTF. Other wise, total win.

Yeah I think I'm going to become very tempted by this... The Amazon one looks rather good to me. Not perfect mind you. But for $60 it looks like a good rendition of the character. Plus it seems he's more gold than orange, which I think I'm digging.

 

Yeah, I think the Amazon one is starting to grow on me as well, especially for that price which other people have already brought up. Just have to make sure I'm able to find this at Costco since I don't really feel like ordering it online.

 

Does Costco get the same stuff as Amazon normally?
