I'll probably work to acquire a copy of the comic, even though I have the convention edition.

I just love contests that taunt me with a prize I strongly want coupled with a competition I'd be completely incapable of winning, don't you?

Totally rad. I'll have to remember to seek it out when the new DCBS pre-orders go up.

Pretty much; yeah. This is exactly my theory.

Besides, much as having a 48pg TFA comic is nice for us, retailers will only see an 8 dollar comic. Which is less likely to sell to people who aren't already in the know and buying.

And we're assuming here that it's not someone attempting to get a Minerva just to flip. If she goes for over a grand on eBay, 800 dollars for comics is still a net profit gain. A slight gamble, but probably a gain.

This is the worst way to run a contest EVER! So basically, I go out and preorder the comic from my local comic shop. Come home and email the club the name of the store I ordered from. If that store happens to order the most comics, I get Minerva. If not, I don't. Wouldn't a random drawing be more fair? Larger cities with store who move more comics will have an unfair advantage. Not to mention, a city with a lot of fans who ALL order from one store and ALL put that store down as "their store". How in the world would all that get sorted out?

Amazon my friend. Just picked up #2 the other day.

On topic. I will be picking this up, considering my love for all things Animated, but I have no illusions that I could possibly get Minerva.

Meh, I don't care about Minerva. My TFA Arcee is satisfactory enough.

    From the contest rules:
Might it be possible that comic stores with multiple locations don't split their Diamond ordering into multiple orders? If I ran a business, I sure as hell wouldn't do that.

This contest gets dumber with each new detail we learn.

Whoa, $8 this year? For the comic? This might be the first one I pass on.

Yeah, that's mainly what I'm interested in.

I'll ask for a copy for myself for sure, but with the current market for Transformers comics, I'm as likely to find Minerva sitting on a park bench with my name scribbled on the package as I am winning her through this contest. Pretty much all of the comic shops in my area stopped putting in large orders of TF comics after sitting on stacks of variants for the Movie 1 Prequel and the 15* variants per issue of Escalation. A few of them have told me they only order enough to fill their handful of subscriptions. On occasion, they'll put one or two on the shelf. There just isn't the demand for them that we'd like to see.

On the bright side, thanks to the Club for even making it possible.

*Yes, 15 variants per issue is an exaggeration.

Try Orbital up in London. I know Ace will be carrying it but as they're mail order I'm not sure if they'll do single sales.

    Ebay:
I'll buy 2 or 3 on top of my 2 botcon issues purely for support of the line. And I understand the intent behind this contest, and as an Animated fan I appreciate that intent, but I can't see this contest really panning out smoothly. I'd rather just have the club auction the figures off or have an Animated collection contest or something.

I'm calling that the prize(s) go to a TF fan who happens to own or at least work at a comic shop. :)

This. I'm happy for the comic folks in the group though. I'm interested in Animated, just not in comic form.
