    From the TCC's Twitter feed...

Source: The TCC (@The_TCC) on Twitter

EDIT: For those not sure what Timelines is, that's the name assigned to the comic series all the Botcon comics are in; these get released via Diamond in the fall. So everyone should be able to get their hands on this if they live near a comic shop.

Yeah; you don't need to be a club member to get this. Just preorder it at the local comic shop to make sure you get a hold of a copy.

It'll be in the club store as well, I think, but that's the expensive option.

sweet, I confused it with the club comic. No local comic stores near me (they're a rare thing in the UK) so I'll order online. Thanks for correcting me :)

.....well. I have to say, I don't quite understand the contest.

Never mind that it'll lead to two things:

    1) People who want Minerva buying up the comic like mad themselves, as it'll still be cheaper
    2) It favors the larger stores. If you live somewhere with a small comic shop you're out of luck.

I was just thinking about how this could be gamed by someone who wants Minerva and knows her aftermarket price.

Namely, she probably goes for hundreds. Someone wanting one for 400 bucks could try and game it by getting 100 copies of the comic for themselves, JUST for Minerva. Odds are few places will order that many.

So you have to order a ton of comics in the hopes of winning? That's kind of a waste of paper.

I'd say anyone would be in for a tough time trying to get their retailer to order excessive amounts of a Transformers comic in excess of what they normally sell, especially one with an eight buck price tag. NO retailer is going to want to be left with a load of unsold low-sale, low-interest stock like that - I fully predict most of them will want the person trying to enter the contest to pay for them.

(Not that I'm slamming FP when I describe the book like that, y'unnerstand, that's just where TF comics sit on the totem pole.)

the comic is $8? i'm going to have my shop order one, but even when I worked there, I got them to order ten 07 comics... I ended up buying 5 of them to give to people because they just weren't moving, and i felt bad about getting them to order that many. If a store buys that many comics, they could hypothetically sell Minerva for a large amount, then discount the comics to still make the money back, but ultimately it's not worth the price in my opinion.

We are counting on demand for more Animated! This is going to be a very cool offering and fans (we would hope) will really want this book... Winning comic shop owner will receive $200 in prizes, so not a bad deal for them.

First off, Pete, your press release says the rules for this contest are at TransformersClub.com. I can't find them. Advice for the future: put things up before you announce them in a press release.

Regarding your comment: With all due respect, it's not a good deal. It's not a deal at all if the owner is stuck with unsold issues.

I suspect you will have a few stores buying tons of issues because winning is the only way to get a Minerva. I think anyone with half a brain can see what's going to happen:
    1. A few deep-pocketed stores will order a ton, in conjunction with a deep-pocketed collector. They are gambling, and don't expect to sell the comics ordered, which will likely be given away, put in the discount bin, or trashed.
    2. Other comic stores will ignore this contest and order this comic like they've treated all past BotCon comics: according to demand and maybe a couple extra for the shelf.
The only one who benefits is the Club, who profit from the deep-pocketed non-winners and a bunch of fools who think buying $75 worth of issues might be competitive. I personally think the winner will be someone who buys $800+ worth of issues that they have no intention of reselling.

Also, who wins the Minerva if several people go to the same comic shop that orders the most?
