Nah, this happened to Grimlock last year also. People just have short memories.

    1) Impossible to find when it first comes out.
    2) Warms shelf for a couple of months. (in some places)
    3) Handful that are left sold out by Christmas.
    4) Price goes up 50% next year.

zero in the 4 trus in las vegas since release. they claimed they never had them come in. they never put up a sticker on the isle. backroom shady deals were struck for some of the ones they did get.

Ditto, my first had a big nasty scratch on the chrome pipes. Quick to boot for a return.

    HOLY CRAP!

So I looked over at Rodimus just now...and noticed something weird...his arm was gone. I saw it laying on the ground. I walk over and the platsic has just....snapped. He was posed and behind other Rodimi...so way anything actually DID that too him.

I've not seen any at any Bay Area Toys R Us's. Not that I've been checking religiously. But as I just ordered one online, that no doubt means I will see a shelf full of them next time I go...

I might guess it's a combination of TRU ordering a few extra for the first run,
Rodimus just not having the same significance to the wider fanbase as Grimlock, and perhaps people who've heard about QC issues and don't want to risk it... Grimlock might be faulted on some things, but it was about the most uncomplicated MP mold yet. Rodimus is probably the most complex one released at US retail however.

Or alternatively it's none of the above.

The same people that would be privey to the knowledge of the QC issues will also be the same people that know that this is the fixed version. I don't think that is causing and shelf warming issues.

This is a big ticket item. You will see a bunch on shelves for the Christmas season and in January you MAY be lucky enough to see a few here and there.

Rodimus isn't really shelf warming he is just waiting for the season to begin.

Hey Transbot- you know, when you said it is a big-ticket item, I had to pause and think about that! Of course, that is right- for most "normal" people, spending $60 for a single Transformer toy is a lot of money! However, with all of the Ben Franklins I have been dropping left and right on Herc figures and iGear Seekers, $60 is feeling like pocket change, and a real bargain! I am really starting to lose perspective here- I'd better watch out! Yeesh... I need help...

My name is Evan, and I am a plastic crack addict. :)

    Dear Even,

I am sorry to inform you that plastic crack will no longer do the trick for you. You are one of us now, one of the 3rd party collectors. If and when you need to scratch that itch only PREMIUM PLASTIC CRACK WILL DO.

I hear what you say. When I bought Rodimus for about 50 bucks including tax I thought it was an inexpensive purchase. Oh how you become oblivious what $50 will really get you once you get on the Premium Plastic Crack train.

I stopped by at my local TRU and they had MP Rodimus. But there was no price.

What do you mean, Doug? Most TRUs are selling him for $59.99 plus tax (maybe higher in the NYC area). If you brought him to the register, I'm sure it would have scanned properly. Did you buy him?

Every TRU I've been in also has those little scanning stations on some aisles where you can scan and check price yourself.

Rodimus is back in-stock online at TRU and eligible for store pickup.
