That jet mode ain't bad. Agree, they probably are better off making dedicated robot or vehicle kits, since these things aren't able to transform anyways.

All the more reason why I think this line would do better under GI Joe: no need for transformed modes, all focus on making a kick ass vehicle construction kit.

yeah, a lot of the robot modes aren't great (but a few are pretty cool!) but i thought Starscream was by far the worst. it's like an unholy combination of TFTM07 with Armada and a cartoony G1ish head...

(still really disappointed these don't transform since we were initially led to believe they do ~ or even PARTIALLY transform)

 

Really digging these Kreon figures. I like the amount of articulation they have VS Lego minifigs. Just recently noticed the apparent waist swivel joint they have. Very cool.

The large Starscream model looks kinda okay, but man, am I the only one who looked at the face and thought it looked REALLY generic? Something about those lips and the helmet. It looks like a knockoff.

Apart from that, sounds like these are pretty solid. What's the construction like? Is it literally just two separate set of instructions on building it (like one set for vehicle and one set for robot), or does it involve you disassembling one slightly and reassembling the built parts? I remember Built To Rule did that with the one or two I had. Either way, still looks cool.

 

I'd agree with all your points. The stickers really aggravated me; mine were cut OK but they were all smaller than the instruction manual led me to believe. I went with jet mode, which I feel looks pretty good - I'll try the robot mode eventually but I've gotta prepare myself for the grind of tearing him down and building him back up again.

The Kreon Starscream is probably my favorite part of the set. I really hope we get an option to buy them in blind packs or individually.

 

This is the problem i see.How many times do you think kids are going to breakdown and rebuild before they say screw it and add it to the other legos.

 

Agreed, I'm hoping to wait out long enough for a collector Kreon only set to come out; that interests me more. Out of curiosity though, how long did it take you to complete his jet mode? Either of 'Screamer's modes look surprisingly complicated (perhaps even frustrating?) to actually build

Kinda sad that he doesn't look as good in bot mode..but Starscream is better as a jet anyway..will take the wait and see approach for this one.  

 

cool to hear the part fit is comparable to Lego stuff. It sure as hell wasn't in BTR. I may try out a smaller set or two.

 

Wow I know every says it but those Kreons are awesome. They are articulated with ball joints and a waist swivel, and it's kind of ridiculous how many specific and identifiable bots you can get out of the basic body.

 

I'd say it took about a good hour and a half - mostly scrounging through the pieces looking for the right ones. The fact I used a light grey piece in place of a dark grey piece cost me some time also (it's a little hard to determine which is needed in the manual sometimes). There were about 65 steps for jet mode and about that many for robot (I'm at work right now, so I don't have the manual near), so there is some complexity. But there are a lot of cool details (control sticks in the cockpit, retractable landing gear, etc) and the jet mode comes off very well. Once I was done I was very pleased.

 

I REALLY hope they do pull a Mega Bloks and release blind packs. I want the little guys but have no interest at all in the sets themselves. I got an odd feeling we are going to see alot of the sets minus the Kreons. I collect the HALO Mega Bloks and recently the minifigs have been getting jacked from the boxs at stores.

Are you serious? All this time I tought they could transform... I mean, check out the fan-made Lego transformers... Heck, I myself built a transforming G1 Lego Prime back in 1989 or so. When we did not have ball joints... (it had the same articulation as the G1 toy, but so what...)

Frankly, if they can't transform, then I have lost all interest. Well, except for the Kreons. Those are pure love. Especially little Shockwave.  

 

They can't man there's even a disclaimer at HTS stating:

This might be on the box too. On the box it states that you can build the set into the pictured modes, but not transform them.

I'm tempted to buy one of those huge ass tubs of legos and figure out some way to make these SOB's transform. Maybe the Lego CREATOR sets could work well. Those seem big on functionality. Or even Technic.

If we could get dedicated robot mode sets..like an Optimus Prime with Spike and Buster Kreons sitting in the chest windows, and have Prime fully articulated, that would be cool.

So far it seems that Hasbro made a decent splash but not all the way. Sideswipe looks cool, Bumblebee looks decent, and Prowl looks disappointing(low arms).

the only thing that bugs me about these, aside from the lack of transforming, is how absolutely TINY the heads are. They look so goofy.

 

So they do work with Legos? Not that this matters much as you can build really awesome fully articulated transforming robots with Legos and Bionicles. That said, these robot modes are pretty weak.

But since they are compatible, I guess they get my dollars.

 

These are really nice sets, I can't wait to get the Jazz one.
