Methinks that if this really is an issue, Hasbro's lawyers would have picked up on it way before the cardbacks and adaptations went to the printers, because I doubt that the Hasbro higher-ups would say "Alright! Ferrari bot in TF3! Yay, let's call him Mirage..what? we can't call him that in the movie? Screw it, we'll still call him that in every single other piece of media." Totally different scenario from the Brawl/Devastator situation.

I havent read any of the prequel comics, but if his name really was Mirage, plus Hasbro has trademarked it for their products, then this would be idiotic.

 

... I have no idea what to make of this. First instinct that Nelson is BS'ing us here. Second instinct, that you folks are all being big babies about this, bickering with Nelson. You know, if you guys really think Nelson is such a troll, wait for June 29th. I'd much prefer the Ferrari to be named Mirage. By thi point so close to release date, it'd be like changing the name of the Statue of Liberty, Barack Obama, or Optimus himself to something else. For now, I'll be skeptical, and wait for June 29th.

Seriously, after the "Soundwave is not the SLS" and the "Wheelie's buddy is the Benz" BS he's told us, there is no way anybody should believe this. Let alone the whole twin's debacle, which probably won't be settled till the movie is actually released.

However, if this is somehow true (I severely doubt it, but look what happened to Brawl/Devastator in TF1), I'll still call him Mirage. Especially since that's what he's been named in all the comics leading up to and about the movie, the novelization of said movie, and that's the name that'll most likely be on all of his toy packaging.

 

Considering this movie is aimed at HUMANS, not ROBOTS, this makes perfect sense, actually. The general viewing public couldn't care less if the red and blue truck was named "Optimus Prime" or "Faceripper".

If he's proven wrong, he's still getting paid by Michael Bay and couldn't care less whether any fangeeks think they "PWNed" him.
