Aaaaaaaa....just clicked the link for that class III vader abortion....WTF IS THAT THING?? hideous... If Corky Thatcher Got a job designing transformers....this is the end result
I have to admit a few designs off SWTF line were pretty cool, not to mention their joints. But these ones, I am not sure. I won't be surprised to see them down to the floor of Ross for less.
Listen, I love Transformers. And I love Star Wars. But these figures have not been very good. I personally feel this is a waste of resources. The designers could have spent thier time into the main lines... Who buys these anyway?
Well these are designed by the US/Hasbro team, who DON'T do engineering work for the mainlines, so that's an irrelevant argument. From everything I've heard SWTFs have done very well, even better than the (IMO superior) MarvelTFs. My understanding is that the audience breaks down into 3 groups: 1. SW-folks buy them to have nice smaller-scale ships and craft from the SW-universe, frequently with no intention of ever TFing them. 2. TF-fans who like using them for custom work (I fall into this group) 3. SW/TF fans that enjoy them for what they are. It's a recipe that seems to work, especially when you consider that Marvel TFs seem to be evaporating, probably because they only have category 2 & 3 folks buying them, and lack the support of a Marvel-equivalent category 1 group. Because it sells so damn well. Children, aka the intended audience. Though I've seen threads on Star Wars toy forums with SW fans having fun with these too.
I occasionally buy SW Crossovers that look decent enough to have some potential as customizing fodder for TF-related projects... same for the Marvel Crossovers. These look pretty tiny... I hope they're at least the size of Scouts. The Obi-Wan looks pretty decent... the others, not so much so far. zmog
Daaawwwwww. They're Adorable!!!! I like the little size!! I think they sell well, for the above mentioned reasons, but also because you get parents/aunties/grammas who don't have a clue and just grab the first thing they see that says "STAR WARS" for their li'l loved ones.
Obi-Wan looks nice, but the truth is I would prefer to see new Marvel crossover figures. Other than Iron Man that is, there's way too many of 'em already...
Same here. I'd really like to see at least a Marvel Crossovers Thor A10 done in modern comics or Movie colours... On topic, I've bought a couple of Star Wars TFs as gifts for a friend who's a Star Wars fan. He wasn't likely to to already have anything like them already. He found them pretty nifty.
How much are these? I've held off buying SW Crossovers since they are kinda silly and also expensive.
SWTF are still peg-warming at the brick & mortar stores. This new line maybe more affordable but the smaller scale tells me they are downsizing to create a whole new line. Although I have all the previous releases, I don't see myself jumping for the smaller scale figures, for the same reason I collected Binaltech and not Alternity.
Me too. It was like a revival of Action Fleet with the added bonus of the vehicles turning into robots. I miss those pilots.
I wish they'd put that Hulk crossover back in stores. I could buy at least a dozen of those molds. Not saying I scalp, but that mold was hands down the best crossover.
how many waves of jedi starfighters can Hasbro keep pumping out? 99.44% of the starfighters do not look good at all.
I've got pretty good turnover in my area, maybe not as good as some of the best selling lines, but MUCH better than the rest of the aisle! I don't think they're doing away with the current line, just adding a new pricepoint. These guys = Class 1 Normal ones = Class 2 Occasional Bigguns = Class 3 D/L
Of course they'll sell well. The bigger ones have sold well enough for the line to last over 5 years (yes, it's really been that long), and these lil ones are going to be cheaper. -airfox
