News Post: TFW2005 Exclusive Transformers: Rescue Bots Concept Art

I was fortunate in being in the early stages of development for the Rescue Squad, and now that the toys are unveiled, I think it should be ok to post some of the art here for the fans to check out, so enjoy some early CG shots of the Rescue Squad.

Disclaimer: Just so that I'm not misleading anyone, I did not do the CG images, I only computer colored the scenarios that was hand drawn by another artist.

Think Playskool but actually kind of cool. They're TFs (well, Autobots) that are for much younger kids and are a rescue force, not a war force. There's like a little fire station and stuff and Optimus is a firetruck again. They were at Toyfair.

I'm pretty sure it's the same thing.

Ohhhhhhhh when Matrix Soul posted and said something about CG renders, I assumed he was working on some kind of 3rd party thing I had missed hearing about. Yeah I saw the playschool bots at toyfair. Just couldn't put 2 and 2 together I guess. lol

Boulder... is that like a Rock Lords homage? Until I saw the names, I'd assumed that was Bulkhead.

Me too! But our own NIBMRatchet did some work on Amazon, and dug up some listings, and those were the names. That was the one that we both agreed was the best fit.

I guess beyond Bumblebee and Optimus, the idea was to use new / less known names so they don't get associated with the main series and the war connotations?

well, the character seemed like Bulkhead superficially, but the new name definitely fits. I looked it up and sure enough there actually was such a Rock Lord, even if it's not much of a likeness.

Though I suppose they're both sorta green and wear helmets.

Somebody needs to give these hilarious, meme-worthy captions. Can't wait to buy me a Boulder and Prime.

Love those Autobots :D  Hope they aren't too expensive, but the playsets are a pass for me

This whole concept seems really well conceived.

Great stuff for kids. I like the mix of easily recognisable TF characters with less well known, but well-developed additions to the team.

Why? You don't like it when kids get something they might enjoy?

The fact that a few people think Optimus is a firetruck is funny, the CGI render shows Optimus as a big rig, the firetruck in the ToyFair pics are of Heatwave Firebot.

I'm actually gonna buy the Optimus one, I'm a sucker for Prime.

I don't see the problem. This poses no threat to the older Movie/Classics/Prime stuff, and will pull in new fans at an early age.

Should help them develop their manual dexterity. And be safe to suck/chew on.

I honestly surprised at the fact that nobody has noticed the STRONG similarities to RESCUE ROY, POLICEMAN PETE, CHOPPER CHARLIE, AND STRONGBOT.

Upon further inspection, I'm getting more of an ARMADA SCAVENGER vibe from BOULDER than I am a STRONGBOT one.
