nice! so far the only one i'm liking among the new toys we've seen is voyager ironhide. looks like im gonna be saving money on this line.

 

Yep. Its official, the fandom does not learn after 5+ years of bad knee-jerk reactions to mistransformed badly photographed and bad posed pics.

So I want to see that Starscream properly transformed because it looks like it will be awesome once that's done...also very Energon Starscream-y with the weapons, especially in vehicle mode...having basically the same model jet for an altmode helps with that.

 

I like the dread guy, even the gun doesn't look bad on it. I don't know about Starscream. Whoever jacks these toys from the factory must not be a fan enough to transform them right.

 

Maybe, but the signs on the wall are pretty clear when it comes to the development cycle of this toyline.

- paint apps on DOTM figs so far, even less paint then your average ROTF figure.

- scaling down. various key characters reduced in size class.
- simplification. seemingly, a customer feedback memo ( many parents ) claimed, their kid couldn't transform the ROTF toys.

So what does Hasbro do then ... gimmicks like Mech Alive won't really fit into these smaller, simplified molds...so then Mech Tech came to be ;

I bet, parents will complain this time around because the kid lost the Mech Tech accessoiries !

We've seen proper pic of DOTM voyager Prime ( even pics in box ) and we've seen proper pics of Ironhide and Megatron too. Well, the latter 2 look decent to good, but Prime just looks horrible.
Clearly, these Deluxe figures suffer even more from the budget cuts and Mech Tech gimmick which eats away even more. And then the kid loses the Mech Tech Weapon...

 

Starscream is so obviously mistransformed I can not believe anybody would think otherwise. He needs those large tan sections coming from his waist clipped into the grey shoulder line. He also seems capable of hiding his nosecone ala the Leader version.

The Dread looks friggin' amazing no matter how you slice it. Great colours, sculpt, proportions.

What's wrong with the Dreads having dreads?

I think it's funny. (provided "Dread" isn't just a working name based off their design, which it could be)

Looks kinda ok. Still not liking the big pincers, although they kinda look ok in bot-mode. I'll sure as shit NEVER display them whipped out in alt-mode. That looks ******ed. Bot-mode looks pretty good if you chuck out the gun.

Starscream:
What is going on with his hips there? That looks bad. Even if you toss aside the BFGFE it doesn't look good. Yes, mistransformed, but even if it is transformed properly it might still look bad. It might just have to stay in alt-mode, which looks fantastic from the top down.

Are those huge ass rivets I see too? How small is this figure?

 

I bet something like ROTF Breakaway.

I guess he'll be a budgetbot like Breakaway. Which was OK for Breakaway because he was an off screen character... but SS !?

 

Having second thoughts on that SS.

 

I'd pick up Starscream strictly for the jet mode, (if it's as svelte as I'm hoping) The Leader toy's bot mode is good enough.

Not digging the Dread though.

I'm actually not going to purchase these, personally. The only good thing I've seen so far in this line is Ironhide, and even he is going to need some serious modding to not look awful.

But hey, that's money saved for Generations   Good news for those of us on a small budget.

 

the mistransformation makes me cry. so does the mechtech.

 

On the bright side, I have now more money to spend in my Macross collection. Thanks Hasbro!  

 

Starscream, buddy, you lost weight!

 

There is no clearly when you're yet to see clear pictures and handle the figures yourself. And your bet is kinda.... weird considernig the mech tech guns all got ports for storage and are big enough to not go out of view, certainly bigger than the guns you see in Generations figures and others, paint app thing is also weird because comparing Starscream to his Voyager version from ROTF, he seems to be more colorful than that version.

And there you got it, the only one you can 80% see what he is truly like is the Voyager Optimus, and truth be told most of the complaints are DOESNT LOOK LIKE BATTLE BLADES instead of the figure's features themselves. The movie lines are huge, the movie lines got alot of product and people are already calling it the uttermost horrible crap in the universe simply because of 1/30 of the line in bad pics. In contrast, everybody was masturbating over ROTF early because the first photos were box pics of the Leader Optimus and Sideswipe. There is no excuse here, it's the biggest case of knee-jerk reaction ever and even if the DOTM line ends after all being really really that bad which I doubt, it still won't make thie knee-jerkiness fair specially from a fandom that SHOULD know better.
