Yep. WFC didn't get a line of it's own because it was just a video game. A show like TFP is going to get it's own, full, toyline.

 

I don't know if I like the idea of this being a pre-release line, if Prime's going to have limited amounts of cast, i'm unsure how it'll hold a ongoing toyline, but at the same time it'd suck to just have deluxe-only figures.

I think Animated hit it best with the main characters being Deluxe/Voyager size, with the odd leader-class figure. Too many size classes makes scouts look stupid compared to leaders.

 

Honestly, by the sounds of it, I don't think there will be a pre-release line. Especially considering that the designs are just at the CAD stage. Which means that Hasbro's estimated release for October might come true. There's also a somewhat decent chance that by then the second season will be starting up at around the same time.

 

i'm actually a bit miffed(disappointed) with some of the transformers toy releases in recent years! because since Transformers Animated toy line, they never released Omega Supreme, Metroplex & Fortress Maximuss toys. Same with War For Cybertron Game toyline too! a few came out! but yet no Omega Supreme or Trypticon toy. appart from the Star Wars Crossovers Death Star Darth Vader we've not seen any Transformers Base/Battlestation type toys come out in ages & we need more of that. So...i'm hoping that Transformers Prime DOES in some future ep! feature either Metroplex, Trypticon, Omega Supreme or Scorponock(the headmaster one) & that they WILL bring those out in toy form.

The sad truth is that large playset type affairs just don't sell that well these days, the heyday of massive bases for your heroes (boulder hill, cat's lair, castle grayskull etc etc) has long since passed.

Hasbro are trying to bring the idea back with the cyberverse stuff in DotM it seems so perhaps if those do well then there's a chance we may see a new base bot of some sort in the near future.
