You're probably going to know him best as characters like Herbert Landon from the 90s Spider-Man cartoon, Ra's Al-Ghul in "Batman", the Archmage in "Gargoyles", Alpha from "Men in Black: The Series", Nergal in "Billy and Mandy", Sark in "Tron", and a bunch of other recurring and one-shot villain roles in various 90s cartoons, but he's also a huge classically-trained Shakespearian actor.

And is the bloke who gets his head chopped off by the glass pane in "The Omen".

If you saw the original Tron, he was the villain in that film.

I viewed Corey Burton and David Warner as interchangeable, so as long as we get one of them, that would be awesome to me.

Shockwave with Sark's voice would be beyond epic.

You DO know that Corey Burton based his Shockwave voice on David Warner, right? This NEEDS to happen.

I am truly saddened to hear that Corey Burton is not interested in reprising Shockwave, as to me, he truly is the voice of Shockwave, and made the character his own, between G1 and Animated, much like Peter Cullen did with Optimus Prime.

However, I can easily respect his wishes, and I thank him for both having the writers of Transformers: Animated give Shockwave a larger screen presence, and for giving us an incredible performance in his multiple roles.

I do hope, that, at least, if Mr. Burton himself does not play Shockwave, that instead, the actor that does portray the character is one that he approves of; which, in this case, seems to be David Warner. :)

don't feel bad I don't know who he is either. Even the list of credits people have listed doesn't help me so I'm going to have to IMDB him and see if I can't find something where I can hear his voice.

BTW...news credit to Chopperface the OP?

This works, also, Warner was the professor in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.

Ah yeah... I haven't seen that in ages. The last good Turtles film until the 2007 CGI toon.

On Topic - Sad to see Corey Burton not want to come back, but he was great in Animated, and he'll come back eventually. He'll be back for Prime or something else Transformers. WFC 2 or something. He's not gone forever. Warner'll do a good job if he is chosen, other then that, get Alan Rickman.

He also may have been referring to Barricade (Brawl was a working name for Barricade, I believe), but likely Warner paid attention to the film, as immersed in Transformers he was at the time (Animated in production at the time).

Given Mr. Bay's propensity for casting Screen Personalities over multi-voiced off-camera "cartoon" character voice actors and Mr. Warner's outstanding history of consistently vivid and "savory" character performances (a much under-appreciated and impressively versatile master craftsman in the fine art of Acting, across the entire spectrum of audio/visual performance media).

I'm sorry, I must have missed the part when George Clooney, Michael J. Fox and Eddie Murphy were cast as Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Ratchet. The only "name" that has been cast thus far is Hugo Weaving. Yes, we had Tony Todd, and I love him to bits, but no disrespect intended when I say I wouldn't really call him a "screen personality".

If you're going to make subtly scathing remarks, at least have the decency to have your facts straight before you do.

I thought David Warner did voice Shockwave, since the voice sounded so much like him. If Shockwave is only going to have a line or two, there's no reason to go through the trouble of showing up. You could throw anyone's voice on a vocader and be done with it.

Casting David Warner would seem almost too dead-on to be true. I really hope they do it, but I won't be surprised if they make some last-second change (remember when Turturro was slated to voice Jetfire?).

Sark from the first "Tron" movie, You tube it. He was the MCP's second in command and was kept in line like Unicron would keep Galvatron in line.

I will admit I greatly respect Corey for stepping aside to allow the character he's known for to be protrayed by someone else.

Especially the guy who played Sark, who the Shockwave voice was inspired by. ;)  comes full circle huh?

I am curious to see what Warner will do with the character. This should be very interesting! :)

My first reaction was a loud, Darth Vader "NOOOOOOOOoooooOOO!!!!!!", but then I realized this is the man who Burton BASED the voice off of. This is the next best thing, and I anticipate to see how it plays out.

And Dillinger from the first "Tron" movie.

AND the Master Control Program from the first "Tron" movie.

That's right. He was all three of 'em. So David Warner would be perfect for Shockwave. He be takin' them Autobots DOWN. (As long as Bay doesn't cast Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner as Huffer and Brawn...)

I like all this positive feedback. I am a sheltered fool, and do not know who David is, but I suppose this good to hear.

I told you it was news

Well I always loved corey burton but i would like to here his voice.
Im open for new things, as long as its not a huge jump like soundwave was but if it captures the character then i will be happy
