Cool Toy Review: Why is the fantastic retool of the Voyager Fallen from ROTF blue?

Hasbro: This deco was inspired by a specific scene in Revenge of the Fallen. Our objective was to try and make The Fallen's "skin" appear almost metallic beetle like. So the lighter blue was to help pop the design so that it was not "too" dark and balance this off with the midnight blue/purple color.

I find it more interesting their response to their second question. While most of it isn't anything new, they do reveal that there will be a Ironhide/Bonecrusher 2-pack exclusive to Wal-Mart. I'm willing to guess it's the Bonecrusher and Recon Ironhide repaints we've seen floating around.

OK, so they wanted to add highlights and chose a really light blue for a monochromatic look. Meh, I'd buy that for a nickel. I don't think it's as good as, say, a black with red highlights, but I suppose that is as good of a reason as any, regardless of how well it worked.

 

Well, no, I can kinda see what they were going for given that description.

But without iridescent paint, the idea pretty much fails. But they do just say it was inspiration. Maybe that's where they started, but they liked where it ended up anyways.

 

Sounds about right. I think I called that a while ago when we saw the Mudflap & Starscream Wal-mart Exclusive pack.

 

I thought it was blue cause that's what it looks like when you look at the original toy in Negative filter.

 

Probably the real reasoning is: Releasing him in the original colours would make retailers and consumers think it's just "The Fallen with a New Hat" (or stick, in this case).

why do they even bother answering any questions, when they dont even answer them at all?

there is no scene that i know of in ROTF where the fallen looks, blue.

and way to not even answer the second. please see list below where we dont even mention HAMF.

I was also glad to get that list for the second one, even though it had nothing to do with what I asked - gave away the identities and contents of a couple sets that hadn't been confirmed! And finding HA Mudflap yesterday at TJMaxx got me the answer to that anyway  

 

So Fury of Bonecrusher is officially a Walmart exclusive with that Battle Damaged Deluxe and Offroad Recon Ihide.

Costco Cyber Ops Bee makes me rage if I have to hunt down an exclusive legends figure.

Hey at least they asked a decent question about the reasoning behind a design choice of a toy already in the works. Blue is not that bad. At least they remolded the face, making it removable. And yes, lighter colors bring out the sculpting details better.

 

That's not how toy decos work.

 

Those CTR answers are so bad, it's like they thought it was a G.I.Joe QandA.

 

Huh, I was pretty sure he was purple/tealc (NOT BLUE), because..you know..he's the original Decepticon. And purple and tealc are the 'main' Decepticon colors, like red and blue are for the Autobots.

I still don't understand why people keep saying it's blue. Somebody reported a very blurry 'blue' Fallen in the back in a photo a while back, and I guess it stuck..but did you even see the toy?
