Pretty much, he was the leader of the wreckers in their old Marvel comics way back when... and the dreamwave comics.

So here's hoping for springer

Essentially. The first issues with the Wreckers had a non-toy character, Impactor, lead them. By the end of the story arc, Impactor was dead (what a shock) but he nominated Springer to succeed him. Springer led the Wreckers over many issues until they were massacred by Galvatron and Megatron, but he survived the battle and went on to lead a ragtag group of Autobots and Decepticons from the battle that was known as the "Survivors."

In every other comic continuity Springer leads the Wreckers, but sometimes Impactor is mentioned as their past leader. Impactor actually got his biggest part ever in the recent Wreckers series.

(Springer has nothing to do with the post Beast Machines Wreckers, but they don't really fit the standard depictions.)

I think that it's a human guerilla-faction that is allies with the Autobots and N.E.S.T. that call themselves "The Wreckers" for some reason. I don't think these vehicles turn into robots.

I thought this could be the case and i'm stoked to see it come to light. It'll be the first mainstream (non comic) appearance of the Wreckers.

Name wise, i'm hoping for:

Green car - Springer
Red car - Impactor
Blue car - Roadbuster
