As tiny as the picture is, it seems to have LESS detailing in terms of tattoos than the Hasbro version.

 

How do you know that it's going to be a leader class repackaged?

Pointless direction in which to take the Masterpiece line. Utterly pointless.

 

I'll consider it if it has a great paintjob..although I'd like it if they'd remove the tattoos - from the figure it looks like he hasn't got them, but on the box he has them.

Double price seems a bit much though, so unless it's really stellar, I'll probably pick up the regular one.

Does it really matter what's it called though? What matters is that it's pretty much a Premium repaint.

 

I saw your question. It would suck if it is a repaint with MP packaging. I see it as lazy marketing if it is a repaint.

 

Well, considering ROTF Leader Optimus Prime is largely considered to practically be a Masterpiece design sold at the mass market mainline price point, and considering Leader Starscream has a very, very nice robot mode*, I don't think it's too far fetched to potentially consider them to be MPs.

Just REALLY unexpected, though.

*Like MP Convoy, Leader Starscream was designed to be robot-centric, so his vehicle mode suffers in comparison.

It's been argued by some that Leader Prime and Starscream are pushing an MP level of engineering.... the difference however is that they're intended to be more widely available toys, and the lower price point may perhaps be explained by greater economies of scale.

My first instinct is that this smacks of cynicism on the part of Takara. I'm extremely sceptical about any new parts being included, and i have doubts about how much of an improvement the paintwork will be.

On the bright side it doesn't look like this mentions 2010 so this isn't one of the 2 new or re-release MPs from that campaign.

 

I'm thinking about preordering one myself. But it is the price that is making me to think.

 

Not impressed at the least I'll think I will pass on this one. Bring on either Rodimus or my favorite Cyclonus (wishing but not expecting it)
