It is nice, and I will pick it up (probably a couple). At the same time, I am very happy to have the Henkei version. They sure have a lot of differences that seem to make them both look great. I am really digging being able to see the Autobot symbol through the window for some reason, but the "Fire Rescue" on the side looks a little cheesy IMO. Would have also liked a transparent light bar, but it will be an easy $12 spent.
Anyone else notice the irony that, for a change in the recent trends, the US gets characters later, and give them better paint jobs?
Definitely prefer the clear windows over the blue... and random chrome spoilers do little for me. I'm sure Reprolables can come up with something more 1985-accurate. It's not necessarily worse either, but it is substantially different.
Yeah, any arguing over whether this is 'better' than the Henkei version is absolutely pointless. They're both different. It's not better and it's not worse. Honestly, depends on what version of Red you really want... Want a G1 toy accurate version? Then the Generations release is for you. Prefer your paint schemes to be show accurate? Then the Henkei release is what you're looking for. The only thing I have negative to say about Generations Red Alert is that, while I like the design of the new light-bar, I'm not a fan of the apparent choice to make it in solid plastic. That said, it certainly wouldn't be a deal breaker for me if I didn't already have the Henkei version.
I love this will look great beside my G1. I am also glad I have some left over Red Alert stickers, maybe they will look at home on this guy.
Honestly, I'll be glad just to have one. Henkei RA was a bit more expensive and harder to get for me, whereas this one I can [hopefully] get at retail for the deluxe price point.
Yeah, for some reason Henkei Red Alert shot up in price after the initial set of Preorders. I got lucky and got mine for the typical preorder price for Henkei's (I believe he was $24.99 or something), but now he's crazy expensive. I guess he just never got a second run like a lot of the others did. Frankly, I'm rather happy to see him and Thrust become more widely available for people who couldn't get them. I say bring on Dirge and Thundercracker too!
I'm glad it did got released after all. I'm still lacking this piece in my Classics/Universe collection & I don't want all that chrome on the Henkei version.
We knew this would happen, it was just a matter of when. Looks great, I wish Hasbro was not trying so hard this year to make me want to sign over my paychecks to them.
Man, along with Thrust, I am just so very relieved we are getting this. The prices for pretty much any Henkeis nowadays are spiralling out of control and I'd just about given up hope of owning RA, Thrust or the store exclusive seekers. So now I'm just waiting for future waves when we can get our hands on Thundercracker and Skywarp and surely Dirge must also be in the pipeline?
SO bought. Even though this will mark the third version of a mold that I own (already got Sunstreaker and Sideswipe), I need more emergency vehicles. Plus he'll go great with my Universe Inferno, and all my Classicsverse Autobots in general namely because he doesn't have any chrome whatsoever (which is great, because I do not like chome on toys that has to potential to chip off).
I understand that the henkei version may be better, but i m not shelling out 50-60$ for a deluxe size...with the patient I know hasbro will get around to it...and for about 11-12$ this is a win for me...with generations it might be their best line ever, as they will cover all the generations....
