Watch every episode of Beast Wars featuring Dinobot and you'll understand.

 

That's exactly the thing - people will say "Dude, Code of Hero" when asked about why Dinobot is awesome, but the thing is, "Code of Hero" means very little on its own. It's the culmination of the character arc Dinobot has been going through for the entire second season up to that point, as he has battled against the fear that his future is predetermined, and whether or not his choice are his own. You CAN'T just watch that one episode and understand why the character is fantastic.

Wow. I didn't even follow Beast Wars when it came out, but even I have learned enough in the last few months to believe that Dinobot belongs in the Hall of Fame. I just didn't think he should go in as part of the very first class, I thought there are others that should get the honor of being "first".

Having said that, some of the responses in this thread just scream of laziness. If you don't know who Dinobot is, or don't know why people are saying he belongs, do your damn research. Check out TFWiki, go to YouTube, take a few hours over the weekend and actually brush up on your TF knowledge. Otherwise, you're just being a lazy troll.

pretty sure one color is that of the handgun that megatron picks up, and the other matches the shots hot rod fired at the shuttle earlier.

and when megatron was holding hot rod, hot rod could have taken quite a few shots at megatron, given that he has GUNS on his wrists. could have shot him in the face, could have shot him in the arm, could have shot the damn gun out of megatron's hand.

Given hot rod's obsession with the matrix seen through the rest of the movie, we can only come to one conclusion. that hot rod wanted prime dead.

 

 

Dinobot has my vote for the #11 spot.

 

Hoooooooly crap. It's 1999 all over again with G1 vs. BW. I haven't seen this in a decade. I kinda thought the animosity between Beast fans and G1 fans went away during the Unicron Trilogy. Old wounds I guess.

My opinion is simple: Hall of Fame means that. Fame. They're famous. It's a popularity contest. Beast Wars was always pretty popular. Especially among the kids at that time. There's lot of theories and comments as to why Beast Wars was so significant... I wonder, why shouldn't it be? If you were to make a list of the most popular Star Trek characters, should only the original show's crew be eligible? And not Worf, Picard or Sisko? If you were to make a list of the most famous X-Men, should only the first class count, and not Wolverine, Storm or Nightcrawler?

Fame and popularity isn't chronological. Beast Wars fanbase is rather significant. Personally, I think Optimus Primal and Megatron II deserves it more than Dinobot, but we already got an Optimus and a Megatron on the list, and there's always next year.

Before everyone starts killing each other, it may be worth mentioning again that it's EXTREMELY likely this is a publicity stunt, no votes are actually being tallied or counted, and that this is a random decision by our friends at Hasbro to include a fan-loved character. All of which is fine with me.  

And since it's been horribly misquoted a half-dozen times in the thread:

"He lived a warrior, and died a hero. Let his spark join the Matrix with the greatest of Cybertron."

 

I like Beast wars, and I credit it with bringing back Transformers, but I cant stand G1 bashing. Without G1 there would be no Beast wars, armada or bayverse Transformers. Or who knows, maybe we would be fighting about Diaclone vs Beast Diaclone.

 

These boards cracks me up with some of these people hating on G1. Saying G1 characters only get by on nostalgia but then turn around and say stuff like 'I still get goosebumps' when thinking about Beast Wars characters. How long has it been since Beast Wars aired, 2000? Nope, no nostalgia factoring into that equation.

It is going to be hard for me to pick one.

 

Since I believe I'm the only one who mentioned goosebumps when talking about Beast Wars I can only assume you're talking about me, but I never bashed G1.

So taking a piece from me and a piece from someone else and pretending to be offended by some imagined hypocrite is a pretty sad way of trying to make a point.

Back on topic. It took Dinobot a season and a half to become an iconic character and a fan favorite. Well, two and a half seasons if you count the first season as two (26 episodes versus 13 each in season two and three). Still no easy feat. Credit must also be given to Scott McNeilfor his superb performance. G1 is more than just an animated series unlike Beast Wars. I know there was the IDW miniseries, Dreamwave, and Timelinesbut they rather minor compared to the amount of G1 media. Many of those G1 characters have had a couple boots, and decades to get their characters right. Dinobot did that alone in his animated series run.

To be honest I'm happy the other nominees were picked. They definitely deserve it even though most were voted for from nostalgia and not actually on character. Despite that I am sure most Beast Wars fans are happy for you too. So why not be happy for us? Besides, he wasn't added to satisfy BW fans, I'm pretty sure he was in the top five in four or of five fan sites polls.

And technically, would'nt BWs be part of G1? Therefore you got your fifth G1 character. LOL!
