A Classics BB mold painted blue? Yes, oh god yes! I really hope this is a Hasbro release so we get it on store shelves in NA. Though I know the addition of chrome makes that highly unlikely. Still, I have my fingers crossed, I love that mold and I love that colour! Please Hasbro, bring it here, pretty please with sugar on top!

It is a really nice shade of blue, but other than that it looks kind of... plain. Not a lot of paint apps, which to me suggests it won't be a retail item (or that this is not the finished product). Could it be a Japanese DVD or magazine giveaway/contest prize of some sort?

i always took those two figures as things that were meant to be club exclusives, but didn't happen for some reason, so they got dumped on Botcon instead... just so they'd get out... but who knows for sure... other then Pete... and even then, he'd probably just say "you'll find out SOON"

You know, this mold could easily be released in white and black with retooled heads as Runamuck and Runabout.

    Hasbro Chome ?

Why does Hasbro shy away from using chrome on their toys?

Actually, that makes a lot sense. I'll start thinking of them as the 2009 club figures. But, by making them a Botcon add-on you can reduce the price by selling them without boxes and also drive sales through the ooooh-Botcon-exclusive-syndrome.

Actually, on that count, my opinion is that Razorclaw/Elita-1 were more of "backdoor club exclusives." That is to say, it's not that being club exclusives "didn't work out," so much as they intended them for BotCon first, but purposely made more than they even expected to sell at BotCon, so that some would be left at the club store afterward.

That said, my (further) opinion is that this effort was something of a failure. Although those two are finally close to sell-out point (apparently 12 left in the store yesterday), it took nearly a full year for this to happen. I don't think FP wanted it to take that long. If I'm right (and I do recognize that there's quite a lot of supposition on my part here), FP would be reluctant to do the same thing again so soon.

Given the info we have, this is probably a high-quality KO along the lines of the "Lucky Draw" Henkei Convoy we've seen "mass-produced" recently. IE, made to look as though it's legit.

And in 2007 we got an Alpha Trion that was unrelated to that set. So a random figure could make an appearance as part of this set while being unrelated to the theme.

Or we already know the boxset has one non G2 character, there are no BB type repaints on the short list that I can think of, but theres nothing to stop a non G2 character in the add ons as well.

Also it might not be Glyph as a botcon character it seems a little bit of an odd choice unless it is for Botcon. If its not Botcon related, might a blue Bumblejumper or Freeway (or which ever the blue throttlebot is) be a possibility instead.

That really depends. I doubt having a small number left in stock is a problem.

By your own guide they sold over 75% at the convention and have sold another 400+ in 11 months, most of which I imagine sold pretty quickly after the convention.

Who knows were the break even point was on these but I'd have thought that 75% must have been in the ball park.

Nice color scheme. Whatever line it comes out in, hopefully it'll be affordable.

I'm not sure if I would consider this a failure. An experiment perhaps? 2000 RC/E1 were produced and there's 12 left in stock. I'd call that a success compared to nightbeat. Failure compared to PCP but heck, the 2007 and 2008 boxsets are in that group too.

Also, part of the reason the club moved the exclusives to 2 every two year was because they have a difficult time to getting factory time. Adding toys to the annual Botcon set may be backdoor around this issue.

. . . back on topic, where's my Special Edition Cliffjumper!!!!!

    It's probably just a custom.
