How (not-so) funny would that be if it turned out NOT to be a lucky draw, and a mass-produced figure that will be as common as ROTF Deluxe Wheelie.

Alpha Trion wasn't really random, though. It "fit" the Classics theme. It just wasn't used in the story, and ultimately was used in a different "franchise."

Or we already know the boxset has one non G2 character, there are no BB type repaints on the short list that I can think of, but theres nothing to stop a non G2 character in the add ons as well.
We know that the boxset contains one "Wildcard," which has been defined as a character not generally thought of when discussing G2, and which hasn't appeared in G2 before. That's not quite the same thing. I fully expect (but this could be wrong) that the figure in the box set will nonetheless have a G2 insignia. As to not stopping the add-ons from doing something similar... as I've said in other stuff, it's not impossible. But I really don't think it's likely. One "aberration" might be tolerated. More would earn unnecessary complaining. FP got enough complaints about Razorclaw/Elita-1 not fitting in as it was.

Yes, it's been demonstrated to be possible. That doesn't make it likely.

Well, unless FP has decided to do away with the "no molds used for exclusives for two different BotCon events" rule, this can't be for BotCon since Bugbite used the mold back in 2007.

Who knows were the break even point was on these but I'd have thought that 75% must have been in the ball park.
Ultimately, this boils down to whatever it is that makes FP consider something a "success." I can't speak for them (and neither can you). It is simply my opinion that having stock still "on the shelves" (so to speak) for nearly a full year (although with only 12-ish left, that won't be the case for too much longer) is sufficient to cause them to reconsider whether what I've called the "backdoor club exclusives" idea is a viable one. (And that doesn't even get into the fact that this was a special thing done at least in part because it was an anniversary, which is a totally separate argument against expecting this kind of thing to happen again immediately)

Well, we found out at BotCon 2009 it's not a "rule." Just a tendency, which is at least partially demonstrated to be changing now what with Breakdown and Punch/Counterpunch (a club toy, not BotCon, but frankly the assumption was always "FP doesn't do it," not "FP doesn't do it for BotCon") both using the Universe Sideswipe/Sunstreaker mold.

I will pick it up if it is in the $40 price range, but if it goes for $70 +, it will be a pass for me.
