What stupid child got mauled by an MP Grimlock? Oh well. I hope that's the only thing they changed because of "safety".

It's not paranoia, they didn't have a choice. There are laws in the US that state how pointy something on a kids toy can be. There are no such laws in Japan.

That's been on clearance for $49.99 for a month now. Hopefully the 25% off sale will count for it too. I might buy it then.

 

Takara MP Grimlock's head looks about the same... black, but with some metallic grey touches, so it doesn't really look black.

Overall... I'm impressed. Some of the minor differences are meh... but minor. The claws on Takara Grimlock ARE sharp little meat-hooks, so I'm not surprised they changed them... but the teeth?? I don't really mind that much, but seriously?? God forbid a child should ever get a PUPPY! Now THOSE things are dangerous!  

I'm wondering about metal content. Takara's version really only has metal in the crotch and the shoulder connectors... I wonder if Hasbro's will be the same?

I REALLY like my Takara Grimlock, and I got him for a good price... but I have to say, this Hasbro version looks like nice alternative for half the price. Plus, Takara Grimmy's little accessories haven't left the box yet, so obviously I won't be missing them.

i guess as a toysrus (?) exclusive it wont have a fast clearance, traget seems to specialise in exclusive toys being clearanced very quckly.

 

I have two of Takaras version so its a pass for me depending on the packaging. I really want those instructions though, and maybe a crown.

 

remember the original g1 grimlock also has dulled teeth compared the sharp nashers of the original diaclone vesion. hasbro accurate!!

 

i hope its a more g1 homage box.

I agree. I have the Takara version, and this appears to be a great rendition of a great toy at a great price. Cheers to Hasbro and TRU on bringing this stateside.

 

Very cool! I like Hasbro's additions as they bring it closer to the G1 toy. Many people seem to forget that Masterpiece is all about Cartoon model + G1 toy.

As for the teeth/claw dulling... who friggin' cares?! It makes practically no difference to the aesthetics of the figure. I'd say those who are going to complain about it need to lighten up, or just hush and go buy MP8.

 

The dulling of the teeth should not come as a surpirse to anyone. I already own the Takara, but at the Canadian price that showed up in TRU's computer system I simply cannot pass this one up.

Too bad it most likely won't be released in time for my g/f's b-day in May. She likes dinosaurs, and everytime we make a bet she says "If I win I get your MP Grimlock!" (such an epically awesome figure even non-TF fans show love)

 

Agreed. My expensive Takara one came with the clear sword.

That looks so awesome. I love how Hasbro kept the chrome, I thought they would use some gold or silver paint. Not pass.
