Saw this news posted via the Allspark and didn't see a thread about it here.

Apparently, last month Tony Todd was told that he will be in TF3.

Does this mean the return of The Fallen or is he going to be voicing a new character?

Considering the fact that the Fallen is a "multiversal singularity," much like Unicron, and thus cannot truly be destroyed, he could very well re-appear in the movie's universe to actually wreak some havoc this time...
...but considering how unlikely that is, I think it is safe to assume that, if this information is true, he'll be voicing a new character.

Yeah I hope for a new character as well. I was kinda underwhelmed with the Fallen.

hmm I think he's still gonna do the voice for 'the fallen'. Probably something like megatron's 'conscience', a good example of this is seen in spider-man 2&3, where norman osborn still haunts his son's mind and such. But chances are he's gonna do the voice of another bot too.

Hmm. I have a theory - Let's look at Metal Gear Solid 4. It has a lot of sound clips from previous games which are used in random flashbacks. Thus, they credit those VAs, even if they didn't technically provide new material for this game.

My idea is maybe Megatron is reminiscing about Fallen, and we'll see a flashback about him. Maybe just some bits of ROTF to show what happened to him, or hey, new material?

As a singularity, death for him means he can no longer return to the movieverse, but still exists in other continuities.

I'd wager that Todd's going to either come back as the Fallen in flashbacks, or as a new character.

First we get that announcement for James Avery as Silverbolt, then we get this. Wonder if this means that Bay and co are going to pay more attention to the bots this time in ways beyond the visuals?

Yeah who says he's going to be voicing The Fallen? Voice actors can usually do more than one voice you know.

I hope the Fallen returns. He just seemed to go out too...easily.

Maybe Unicron arrives and resurrects him. Who knows?

For a villain like that with all the build up they had for him, he seemed underused, like they weren't showing us all there was to his purpose.

If you think about it, the matrix was needed to revive Prime who, using the matrix, could destroy Unicron. It was also needed to power the Sun Harvester to make a new Allspark which would then be used to make a new Decepticon army.

By having Prime out of commission, and using the Sun Harvester to create a new Allspark, the Fallen could then grant Megatron his new Decepticon army and bring the Matrix to Unicron, knowing that they would be safe having possession of it, and that no Prime would be left to use it against the Chaos Bringer, save for the Fallen himself should he be ballsy enough to do so.

Let's not forget that there is more than 1 Sun Harvester located throughout the Universe. If one were to somehow move a Harvester or even build a new one near a Sun, then all they would need was the Matrix to power it.

So either by having possession of the Matrix, the Fallen & Unicron (and presumably Megatron & the Decepticons) would be untouchable,

    OR

The Fallen (who is still a Prime) could use the Matrix to kill Unicron himself, making the Fallen the head honcho & Megatron his bitch.

I'd guess it's in a flashback sequence, but I wonder if it could be both? Michael Bay could use him for The Fallen and maybe another character if he wants to save money. Interesting news though, if it holds up.

I think there's a chance they might return to Cybertron and there might be some exposition in there about The Fallen but It could be something daft like another Fallen Clone - or dozens of them as Minions of Unicron.

Heck maybe all the other Primes are Identical to The Fallen ?

Well I remember reading in an article a while back that they needed a way to pay for those CGI models somehow, so they reused them in ROTF.

Just look at Grindor and Bonecrusher reappearing in the desert, not to mention the tons of Constructicon clones and reused Protoforms.

Not to mention them bringing back Ravage.

The Fallen has to get used more, and anyone else who was a new model but had little screen time. "Ze Little one" or the Doctor maybe? Reed man?

It seems to be all about paying off the new models by using them more. Kinda like repaints being the purpose of paying off the original costs on the original toy.

Well look at Reno. the guy who voiced Frenzy in Movie 1, came back as one of the twins in Movie 2. The same could be done for Tony.

From what I understand, actors don't usually say they are involved in a production unless they're actually doing new material for it. Reused footage, sound clips and stuff are compensated via residuals.
