My friend in California sent me this pic of "new" Micromasters being offered in Tomy gashapon machines. Anyone heard of this or seen them? The machine was out of order so he wasn't able to buy any unfortunately. Said they were $1 each.

I wonder what the quality on these is like. The red Dropshot appears to be missing a chest piece and a couple of them seem to be mistransformed. (how one can mistransform a Micromaster is beyond me.) And then there is the new Micro. (the Green/Red truck)

If they are up to TF quality, they do make for an interesting group of bots.

While true, Tomy is the other half of Takara/Tomy. They would have access to the old molds. The color choices are very G2, but if they are of good quality, I'd throw them into my Universe collection.

Interesting to say the least, I notice at least Ro-Tor from the KB Superion set.

could just be a tomy gasha dispenser, but the contents inside might not be authentic stuff. especially if the place selling it is a department store or something.

TOMY makes the machines, but they don't necessarily make what goes in them. You find all kinds of stuff from Spider Man toys to Ben 10 toys in those things.

So they are micromaster or mini-con molds? Or both?

Looks like cheap KO's to me. Especially at the $1 price point.

However, given that the only recent gashapon set i can think of right now that is legit and of a reasonably well known series, is the Mugen G Guardian (blue/silver or black/red), and each piece cost the equivalent of around $1.xx USD, they might be real.

Would be even more garish than MRM, though, real or not.

I'm told that my friend will pick up several for me once the machine has been repaired so hopefully I'll be able to snap some pics of the actual product before too long.

The machine is made by TOMY, but the toys are fake. There are lots of machines like this in my area that I can regconize one containing fake toys.

If the toys were made by TakaraTomy then then there would be an official logo on the front. In the U.S., Takara is not used. The company just calls itself Tomy in the U.S.
